 It seems like just yesterday we were all playing with over 9000 others in the 2012 International Challenge, but it's time for another official ladder tournament put on by the kind folks at The Pokemon Company. Like the International Challenge, the 2012 Spring Friendly will use the same rules as this season's Video Game Championships, so if you have a team ready for that, you're good to go! Registration will be from 12:00AM GMT on May 2nd to 11:59PM GMT on May 9th. The competition itself will begin as soon as registration is over at 12:00AM on May 10th and go until 11:59PM on May 14th. This should be the perfect chance to test out your teams before the Canada and US National competitions coming up on June 30th and July 1st! Not to mention the World Championships this August! Also note that registration is limited although the amount of players has not been specified. The sooner you sign up the better! Japanese and South Korean players are not eligible this time around though so you won't need to furiously refresh that sign up page on May 2nd (or May 1st for many of you). Last time we saw Cybertron (1st), Osirus182 (2nd), Dozz (4th), and R Inanimate (7th) in the Top 10 with scores above 1900. Time to see if you can join their ranks!  The second round of regional competitions are starting! This Sunday, you'll see players across the United States and Canada competing for travel subsidies and byes for the Canadian and US National tournaments this summer. With eight events happening simultaneously, it's sure to be a busy day! If you've forgotten and live near one of the following areas, you'd better get your team ready!

 The Create-A-Pokémon project has just begun making a new Pokémon in the CAP forums! The prestigious Create-A-Pokémon project focuses on creating an entirely new Pokémon for competitive battle. The project is designed to rely heavily on community involvement and input; it requires the talents of many Smogon members to contribute in depth analyses, discussion points, flavor writing, art, and sprites. Over the next several weeks, we'll be voting as a community on typing, stats, ability, movepool, art design, sprites, name, and many other aspects that go in to designing a Pokémon. This will be our third CAP for the fifth generation of competitive battling. Furthermore, our Pokémon is yet again being created with Smogon's OverUsed tier in mind. This time around, the CAP 3 process is being lead by Deck Knight. The process has just begun, so the time is perfect for seasoned Smogon veterans and brand new users alike to join us on the CAP forums and get involved. Don’t be shy; I can't wait to see you there!
