DescriptionDeals damage and has a 10% chance to lower each target's Special Defense one stage. In a double or triple battle, this move will hit all opposing Pokemon adjacent to the user. If it hits multiple Pokemon in this way, its Base Power is reduced to 75% of its usual power. Attacks on multiple Pokemon are considered separate attacks, so the move may hit one Pokemon but fail to hit another. Competitive UseAcid is, like most low-power moves, completely useless competitively. While Acid Spray is at least moderately useful thanks to its excellent secondary effect, Acid has no such power, so is unfortunately doomed to obscurity. If you want to lower the opponent's Special Defense, Acid Spray is easily better. For a more powerful special Poison-type move, Sludge Wave or Sludge Bomb are both more than twice as powerful and have a much wider circulation, thanks to their status as TMs. Don't bother using it, ever. Related MovesAcid Spray has the same power but slightly fewer PP, and has a 100% chance to lower the opposing Pokemon's Special Defense by two stages. Ember is a Fire-type equivalent. Powder Snow is an Ice-type equivalent. ThunderShock is an Electric-type equivalent. |
