Description

Deals damage and has a 30% chance to lower the target's accuracy by 1 stage. In a double or triple battle, this move will hit all opposing Pokemon adjacent to the user. If it hits multiple Pokemon in this way, its Base Power is reduced to 75% of its usual power. Attacks on multiple Pokemon are considered separate attacks, so the move may hit one Pokemon but fail to hit another.

Competitive Use

Muddy Water is generally inferior to Surf, which is more accurate and has the same Base Power. Muddy Water's secondary effect is negligible too: lowering accuracy is an unreliable tactic since the opponent can simply switch out and reset any changes made.

Surf is a more reliable option.
