DescriptionForces the target out, dragging out another random Pokemon on the opponent's team. This effect will not work if the opponent's team does not contain any inactive Pokemon. Whirlwind has a move priority of -6. This move cannot be blocked by Substitute. Competitive UseWhirlwind is an excellent move on almost any Pokemon that gets it. Since setting up on a Pokemon with Whirlwind, such as Skarmory, is almost impossible without perfect prediction, it allows the user able to survive for a much longer time. The ability to get rid of Substitute is another amazing bonus to this move. Whirlwind, like all phazing moves, is at its best when used with entry hazards, as it forces any Pokemon that is hit by Whirlwind to take damage from the hazards once again upon coming back. Related MovesRoar is an equivalent move, but is blocked by Soundproof. Dragon Tail also forces the target out, but causes damage and will not force the opponent out if Substitute is up. Circle Throw also forces the target out, but causes damage and will not force the opponent out if Substitute is up. |
