- User is a Contributor to Smogon Media. Smogon Media Contributors contribute significant amounts of material to many of Smogon's online outlets, such as The Smog, The Competitor, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

This badge has recently changed into something that extends beyond just The Smog, and so I feel compelled to post this in order to clarify what's going on.

If you are writing articles for the Smog or The Competitor, doing work for YouTube or posting lots of things on Facebook/Twitter, it can be a difficult process for the badge leader to keep track of everything and know when you deserve the badge. For this reason, in addition to the Editor-in-chief reviewing contributors' work at the end of each issue, when you think you have done enough work to merit earning badge, you may send a forum private message to the Editor-in-chief with links to all of your work and he will consider granting you the badge based on both the quality and quantity of the work you present.

For reference, typically the Smogon Media badge is awarded when you've done 6-7+ articles for the Smog, but this is subject to the amount of work put behind those articles, the amount of content in the article itself, whether it is a collaboration or not, and whether you've also contributed to the magazine in the form of grammar checks and HTML code. For cases when the aspiring badge holder shows involvement in our other magazine, The Competitor, and in the YouTube/Social areas, the process is about the same.
