Are you kidding? Fresh veggies and fruit are very expensive! I mean it's like $4 for a bag of frozen broccoli (which lasts me like 1-2 meals tops). Don't even get me started on mushrooms... Now if you want to talk cheap protein, try hot dogs, canned tuna, spam... mcdonalds.

hey chou I never posted in the thread due to inactivity while it was around but I was just reading through it and came across this post, specifically the line "being a vegetarian, with the food industry as it is, is a wealthy man's luxury" and was baffled.
I can buy a kilogram of split lentils for a dollar, or I can spend five dollars on a hundred grams of pre-cooked roast beef, or I can spend ten dollars on a kilogram of ground beef. So uhh, I'm just kind of confused by how you think vegetarianism is expensive, I do it explicitly because I'm a greedy fucking jew (really give no shits about the animals, the only ones that should matter to humans are humans). I won't speak to eating out, I don't do that because you know, expensive and what not, but by and large meat at a super market is pricy as fuck whereas pasta/vegetables/bread are, well.. not.
