NJ, they had melee there in September as well but I suck at it. I don't really know of anyone who plays competitive Melee (besides people from the tournament who I believe live out of state)

What region are you from? I'm in so.cal, which is probably the best region in the world in terms of melee, so it's hard for new people to get very far in tournament. also lolbrawl

I entered one in Brawl as Wolf and lost to a guy in Round 2 who used randoms lol (Ness and Peach) then in the losers' bracket I used Lucario and lost to G&W in Round 4
I don't think that's terrible for my first tournament though

Not really. I've been to a handful of them over the course of about 4 years. I think I've lost every single set in tournament/pools except one haha.
