I play the same way, standard rules, but that's a personal rule of yours, and if you don't follow other's personal rules, you can't really expect them to follow yours...

I don't want to take pokemon out of my team to play someone. Standard rules are basically what you get when you ask for a battle.

If you don't follow personal rules, how can you expect others to follow this personal rule of yours?
