CAP 8 CAP 8 - Part 14a - Complete Movepool Submissions

Status
Not open for further replies.
Our Pokemon so far:

Type: Electric / Dragon
Style Bias: Somewhat Defensive
Build Bias: Mixed, possibly Special
Ability: Shield Dust/Static
Stats: 108 HP/60 Atk/118 Def/112 Sp Atk/70 Sp Def/80 Spe

This is the thread where all competitive moves are integrated into a complete pokemon movepool, which includes Level-Up, TM, HM, and Egg Moves. This is also the thread where Breeding Group is discussed.

Based on participation in the previous movepool threads, the TL should select several members to present a complete movepool submission.

Allowed moves are the ONLY Competitive moves that are allowed in a final movepool. All other Competitive moves, even those not mentioned in the Move discussion thread -- are NOT ALLOWED in a final movepool.

Any Non-Competitive move can be included in a complete movepool.

If anyone attempts to include additional Competitive moves, not agreed in the previous polls, it will be the TL's responsibility to see that the submitter removes them from the full movepool submission.

X-Act wrote a guide that describes the characteristics of an appropriate movepool. That guide is located here, and should be used as a reference for all movepool submitters.

Ok. This was a collaborative effort in #carp (not #CAP!) between Beej, Billymills, myself, Misaki-Chi, Macle, and Reyscarface.

Level Up:
Code:
HS Water Gun
HS Weather Ball
- Thundershock
- Leer
5 Bite
11 Twister
17 Mist
21 Charge
27 Discharge
31 Dragonbreath
38 Thunder Fang
46 Rain Dance
51 Dragon Claw
58 Tri Attack
65 Thunder
Volt Tackle etc aren't included because they are kinda extraneous. Recovery isn't in the actual level-up movepool because it gets Roost as a TM.

Egg Moves:
Code:
Egg Haze
Egg Dragon Dance
Egg Dragon Rush
Egg Glare
Egg Gust
Egg Supersonic
Egg Yawn
Egg Reflect
We though Reflect should be limited, so it is available as an egg move but not as a TM (much like Ninetales' Energy Ball).

Highlights:

Stun Spore, Slack Off, Discharge, Volt Tackle, Hydro Pump, Overheat.

Legal Egg Combos:

Yawn + Curse (Slowbro)
Yawn + Hydro Pump (Blastoise, Kingdra)
Yawn + Block (Slowbro)
Yawn + Curse + Block (Slowbro)
Yawn + Haze (Blastoise)
Yawn + Haze + Hydro Pump (Blastoise)
Curse + Hydro Pump (Lapras)
Curse + Block (Bastiodon)
Haze + Fangs (Arbok)
Haze + Dragon Rush (Dragonite)
Haze + Dragonbreath + Dragon Rush (Dragonite)
Overheat + Dragon Rush (Charizard)
Overheat + Fire Fang + Dragon Rush (Charizard)
Fire Fang + Dragon Rush: Garchomp
Fangs + Hydro Pump + Dragon Rush (Salamence)

So basically you can't have support moves or Hydro Pump with Overheat. Otherwise everything is possible.

Other notes: No Fire Blast, No Stealth Rock, Uses Light Screen and Safeguard but not Reflect, has Roar, Taunt, Trick Room, Gravity. Has Vacuum Wave.

Random crap:
Double Hit, Tri-Attack, Payback.

I believe it follows all the guidelines. Point out any mistakes please. There's no Recover-ish move on him., and He doesn't get Light Screen. D: For attacks he has everything he needs. Underlined are Competetive moves.

Could you post the allowed/disallowed lists in the OP? It's a bit annoying to have to sort through the movepool topics to find the allowed and unallowed moves, especially since you have to go to a different topic to find out which controversial moves are allowed/disallowed.

Been cut down properly to 16. Doesn't look overpopulated now. I like this list a lot better. Went a little old school obviously. Mostly emphasizes Special moves of course. Morning Sun is my main pick for the dude's healer.

A good amount of TMs can possibly go on this guy and I went with nearly all of them. With Dragon Dance, the physical moves have viability. I don't mind the dual screens, but many others do...and I went along and decided to add Roost.

Aerodactyl, the movepool guide says to limit the level up list to 12-16 moves. You have 17 not including the Heart Scale moves (20+ if you include them). This needs to be toned down a bit.

I'll talk to the rest of the group about Volt Tackle / Earthquake.

Yeah, completely aware of how big it is. I hesitated to put it through, but I just decided to just see how it was, then tone it down. I'm fixing it right now.

I was working on one, but I'm not going to bother now since Deck Knight's has pretty much everything that I had planned. Volt Tackle/Charge/Discharge/Gravity in Level Up, Hydro Pump/Overheat in Egg Moves, no Reflect/Stealth Rock, Magnet Rise/Draco Meteor/Outrage/Vacuum Wave/Aqua Tail in tutor moves. The single thing that I would like on it, and this is mostly from a flavor perspective, is to add Weather Ball, either by sticking it in there or switching Double Hit for it. Double Hit doesn't really do much for it anyway, and Weather Ball suits the Pokemon. Adding Weather Ball would make this submission absolutely perfect in my opinion.

Also, other than the obvious Dragon Egg group, I think there should be the Monster egg group. I mean, an electrical three-headed cloud dragon pretty much instantly fits the Monster bill.

My biggest issue with Stellars is the inclusion of Roost and the exclusion of magnet rise, so far, every electric type gets magnet rise (other than Lanturn, since it's underwater, Zapdos since it's flying, and Rotom since it levitates) and there are no pokemon (other than mew and dodrio) with roost that don't have wings.

It's nitpicky and stupid I know >>

I've already used up all my competitive moveslots on more important things, but I don't really think Weather Ball suits Cyclohm much. Flamethrower and Surf have the same approximate power in the corresponding weather, special attackers without SS immunity don't function well in Sandstorm, and an Ice move is probably useless if someone has summoned Auto-hail, unless you have Abomasnow on your team to surprise SS users for the fun of it.

At this point, I'm also really liking Deck Knight's submission. The only thing that I can honestly say I dislike is the inclusion of Volt Tackle, but other than that it's perfect and I am almost certainly voting for it.

Here's the current movepool I'm working on.

31. Discharge
36. Mist Ball

Cyclohm gets some pretty notable moves in his level-up set, including Dragon Pulse, Gravity, Mist Ball, Thunder Wave, Mirror Coat, Recover, and Discharge.

Dragon Pulse and Thunder Wave reappear here. I chose not to put Reflect in, because Cyclohm has a 118 base Defense, which is pretty good enough as it is. However, the 70 Special Defense would love to get a Light Screen boost.

Only Yawn and Curse are really valued on Cyclohm, and both of them are legal together, thanks to Slowbro. In case you're wondering where all the different moves come from, I posted a list of Pokemon that can supply the move to Cylcohm with each move. An asterik indicates chain breeding.

Draco Meteor, Vacuum Wave, Outrage, Heat Wave, and Magnet Rise are the most viable here.

This movepool is complete for now, but I'll still take suggestions. I chose to not put in Hydro Pump to decrease the overpowering risk. Stealth Rock was also omitted for the same reason.

Volt Tackle, Morning Sun, and Haze are definitely viable. Weather Ball and Discharge are usable, but outclassed in many ways. Charge, Mist, and Dragonbreath are questionable, but certainly options. Thunder and Dragon Pulse are TMs. Tri-Attack is there for the lulz.

Hydro Pump+Dragon Rush is illegal

Water Sport+Dragon Rush is illegal
Dragon Dance, Hydro Pump, Refresh, Whirlwind, and maybe Dragon Rush are usable. It does get Roar through TM, and Dragon Rush is questionable. Also, note that Hydro Pump+Dragon Dance and Whirlwind+all those things mentioned are illegal.

If anyone can think of ways to do some of the above, please say so.

Omissions from the allowed moves list

Attacking

Bug Buzz--Not really that useful, and it does have Signal Beam if it really wants a Bug attack. It's also hard to fit in, as it has to be a level-up move.
Psychic/Luster Purge/Mist Ball--I'd like Rev to be a good check to more defensive versions. So no Psychic moves.
Ancientpower--This is hardly competitive, as HP Rock is certainly better. Flavor-wise, doesn't fit.
Zap Cannon--Couldn't fit it in, doesn't need it. Would have made it an egg move, but that has certain issues.
Flamethrower/Fire Blast--Dragon/Fire/Electric seems like a bit too good of an attacking combination without some drawback. But if people object to this a lot, I'd be willing to add Flamethrower.

Supporting

Yawn--I don't want this to have a sleep move, even Yawn. Toxic and Twave are perfectly good status moves.
Recover--The 50% heal moves seem like too much. It's already got great defenses and HP and a great attacking stat. I'd rather it didn't have perfectly reliable recovery.
Stealth Rock--Does it need it? No. Do I want it to have it? No.
Curse--This wasn't entirely intentional, but it didn't seem to need it and I couldn't really fit it in. I'd have given it Bulk Up, but it's not on the list.
Others--They didn't seem necessary, so I didn't try to fit them in.

Flavor moves

For flavor moves, I went with a sort of weather/nature theme. Hence moves like Icy Wind and Air Cutter, as well as EQ, Avalanche, and Rock Slide. Also why I'd sort of like Heat Wave to be its main fire move, although I do have competitive reasons as well.

So, questions? Comments? Concerns?

I wasn't completely satisfied with the current sets, so I put one together. I took a sort of "everything" approach, so mine has considerably more viable options than most of the others.

Level-up list
Code:
H - Weather Ball
H - Tri Attack
1 - Thundershock
1 - Bite
6 - Twister
13 - Spark
18 - Haze
23 - Sonicboom
31 - [B]Discharge[/B]
39 - Dragonbreath
47 - Thunder Fang
53 - [B]Mist Ball[/B]
58 - Dragon Claw
66 - Zap Cannon
72 - [B]Volt Tackle[/B]
75 - Thunder
Includes Volt Tackle and Zap Cannon, for those who like alternative Electric moves. For artistic reasons, I was annoyed that none of the other sets got Sonicboom, so there it is.

Egg moves
Group: Dragon/Monster
Code:
[B]Dragon Dance[/B]
Dragon Rush
[B]Hydro Pump[/B]
Fire Fang
Crunch
Gust
[B]Yawn[/B]
[B]Growth[/B]
There's Dragon Dance for novelty physical sweepers, and Hydro Pump for the same reasons Salamence gets it as an egg move. Most of the moves can be obtained from Salamence, Gust and Growth can come from Tropius, and Yawn comes from Kingdra.

Why Stealth Rock? Well, I ask you: Why not? It's a decent filler on any set, but it's not like it's going to be used much. Roost is a solid healing move. Blizzard wasn't on the allowed/unallowed list, but nobody's going to use it with all the Dragon moves anyway, and it's weather-related, so I included it for artistic reasons. I included the screens because that's the way the vote went. Vacuum Wave was always a move I wanted and the three Fire moves are because I didn't want to give it just one.

Zen Headbutt
Magnet Rise
[B]Knock Off[/B]
[B]Heat Wave[/B]
Obviously, I was looking for weather-related moves.

Note: Okay, by now, Cyzir's helped me so much that it's practically a joint submission.

Very nice, Umbreon. However, I'd like it more if for similar reasons you (or anyone else for that matter) included Hyper Voice as a filler over something like Dragon Claw that it gets as a TM; as a big thundercloud dragon, I'd figure it would have a pretty hyper voice, after all. This is just an entirely flavor based request though, so I woun't be bothered if it doesn't show up.

(And if somone brings up that only normal types learn it, Politoed got it as an additon in Platinum, according to Serebii adn ShoddyBattle).

Large TM & HM list. No Surf or stealth rock.

Smaller list in Tutor moves, Different Egg group to the norm for Pain split. Swalot covers yawn and Pain Split, whilst the remaining moves are availiable via salamence.

Thanks Naxte. I'm not sure about Hyper Voice... I'm not really feeling it on this guy. If anyone else wants it, I can include it, but I personally can't see it.

DV317: Oh, thanks for catching that. I was supposed to be just an Egg move.

At the moment it looks like a toss-up between Umbreon Dan's and Aerodactyl Legend. AL has everything I'm looking for, though a bit more fine-tuning wouldn't hurt. Dan's is great but it's missing Earthquake. Now if he added it into the TM/HM list that would be great.
