CAP 9 CAP 9 - Art Submissions

If your design gets no feedback, then your design isn't very good. The silence IS the feedback. Take the hint.
Really darkchicken? According to the rules of this art submission thread that's not the case but what I think your trying to say is just enter it regardless.

Atyroki, your art is great and so is your design and no amount of feedback should change that. I think, without a doubt, that you should enter it. You've gotten quite a bit of support already and I assure you there are more people where that came from. Don't Let it get under your skin because when it comes down to it we are all artist for more than just winning a contest. Good luck to you.

Really, don't let lack of support throw you off. It is CaP tradition that the "popular" designs from the submission threads and the final top works infrequently coincide. In fact, many of the top two pieces were overlooked until the actual polls!

That's why despite the fact that my Wolfmon got so little attention, I'm not letting it discourage me cuz I'm sure it will get appreciated and recognized come voting time. I'm personally proud of it and I wouldn't have submitted it if I didn't think it would fit our concept.

So just have a lil faith in your designs guys. If you can't get excited about it, how can you expect others to?

FINAL SUBMISSION

This "Terracoyotta" is based on a fox. Foxes are nocturnal animals, so it fits the dark concept, and the brown, cracked stuff on his paws and tail is mud that has dried up on his body. His body is entirely black, except for underneath, where there is a long white stripe, and the tip of his tail. These Pokemon are very territorial, and will scratch at each others faces when their territory has an unwelcome visitor.

I know this guy didn't get many comments, but I put a lot of work into him and I am proud of my design.

EDIT: Thanks to Cartoons! for the name!

FINAL SUBMISSION FOR CAP 9

Based on a tasmanian devil..werewolf..thing.....which are vicious little creatures.., of course. Anyway...

_____ are vicious Pokemon. A trainer who has set their heart to training one is in for plenty of bites and scratches as just about anything can set this little thing into a frenzy. It lives its life inside dark caves , usually kicking out anything that still lives there..and the Pokemon leave without question...

skymin, would that be a...heh..."Terracoyotta"? ...no?...

The return of CAP has been marked with so many new and returning artists, it's a little overwhelming. Clearly everyone's putting their heart into these Pokemon and it's great to see everyone so enthusiastic. I hope most, if not all, of these Final Submissions will be honored on the website's Gallery.

Keishinkae, sorry, I'd assumed the biped would have been the final evolutionary stage of your tasmanian devil. Though the quadruped is still one of my favorite designs in this thread.

Atyroki, I don't know if there's time at this point to develop a new submission, but if you do get a good idea you want to put down on paper, by all means go for it. In the meantime, it'd still be cool to see some more supporting material for the thorny devil as I really think you have a solid design on your hands.

@Keishinkae
Its an AMAZING concept but the rules state that there should only be the Pokemon, so you may want to remove the signature.
Not too sure about it, just a suggestion. ;)
*edit
Wow, the biped is far better, good choice!

I figured the quad would be more dark ground, but yea, its more of a preevo than final, replaced it with the biped one. :3 AND I removed the signature. And thanks for the comments!

Final Submission

In past history this pokemon was mistaken for far off tornadoes that would mysteriously appear and disappear. This pokemon burrows many holes in the lands it lives in, creating a complex maze of dark tunnels in which it can sneak from tunnel to tunnel instantly. There have been cases where this pokemon has littered dozens of tiny holes across grassy fields and desert plains. It has an unusual urge to bury objects it finds scattered on the ground and puts the objects that amuse him directly into its body. Its body is made out of pure soil and darkness. It can manipulate its body to take any shape, molding the soil of it's body to become more defensive or agile, thus making itself more suitable for whatever environment it is in.

^^ That is a wicked new pose. And that animation at the bottom is phenomenal. This design just jumped into my top 3 (and made it a 3-way tie. Damn you!). Excellent work!

It's Seed Flare time.
So far my favourites are scampy's mole...thing, and just behind it is KoA's Wolfmon.

@KoA - Absolutely love it. Fit's the Dark type very well, not Ground AS much, but it's still there. But the main type was Dark, not Ground, and a lot of people seem to be doing it the other way round, ground with dark attributes.

@Scampy - I think the mole is perfect as it is. If I were you, I wouldn't change it at all. But if that will get more support, you should do it. Seriously it is a great submission and my personal favourite.

I agree that you should definitely enter the thorn devil, Atyroki. I think it's pretty awesome. Definitely a favorite of mine, along with the tasmanian devil werewolf... thing.

There are a LOT of good entries this CAP. I have no clue as to who is going to win.

Really darkchicken? According to the rules of this art submission thread that's not the case but what I think your trying to say is just enter it regardless.

Atyroki, your art is great and so is your design and no amount of feedback should change that. I think, without a doubt, that you should enter it. Well, I take it that there are two types of 'no feedback.' My design, unforunately, gets the one you just mentioned. But people just don't know what to say about Atyroki's. I know that at least I found only one criticism. Other than that, I didn't see any way to improve it, so I kept my mouth shut to stop from polluting the thread.

This nocturnal Pokemon is known as the spirit of the sands and is found deep within deserts where few Pokemon ever reach. They are known to occasionally help unfortunate people trapped in sandstorms and they are highly valued as companions for traveling on land.

The most unique feature of this Pokemon is its gourd attached to its back. The gourd is able to suck in dangerous materials from the Pokemon and the atmosphere and turn it into a nutritious drink. Using the gourd the Pokemon will be able to travel for weeks in the desert without having to eat or drink a single thing and will rarely ever get ill. The gourd is also able to suck or blow air to create fast flowing swirling currents around the Pokemon by moving the "hose" rapidly in circles. It's unknown whether it's an actual part of the Pokemon's body or a symbiont that was attached at some point in its life.

Other notable features include it's hands for digging and holding objects, its ability to stand on its hind legs for short periods of time, sharp teeth used for chewing on tough vegetation and the occasional unfortunate Pokemon and sharp horns that help protect the Pokemon from attacks from those bigger than itself.

Sleeping and being woken

In addition to being hard to find trainers also have to deal with the Pokemon's foul temper and aggression while trying to capture it. It's easiest to capture it during the day whilest it's sleeping beneath the sand but as those black and red markings imply the trainer better be prepared to deal with a sleepy and very grumpy Pokemon ready to charge. Once the Pokemon has been captured it can take a long time for it to warm up to the trainer but once they become friends with someone it'll be for life.

(Sorry for the lack of support material. The downside of only using MSpaint is that everything you do in it is tedious and can take hours.)

I've tried my best to fit the features of this dark horse design into the likely stat spreads, ability and moves. I've also tried to create something unique without being completely bizarre. My biggest concern was making the Pokemon able to seem like it really is a specialist at stopping status and other secondary effects which became the whole basis for the design. I took my inspiration from all sorts of hoofed animals such as camels, horses, deer and many others mainly using the mental image of a horse or camel carrying supplies. I hope i've created something people will like.

I think that there is so much excellent art being submitted into this thread that criticism is being spread thin. If you feel you are not getting enough C&C on your work, I would recommend posting in the Smeargle's Studio forum instead.

This is my first CAP, and while I knew that there were some amazing artists on the site, I had no idea there were so many of them. Only one entry will be chosen, but I think we are all winners in the end as any of the potential candidates are an excellent choice.

EDIT: Wyverii that is incredible. Holy c(r)ap.

I compressed it, so hopefully there won't be a problem this time!

Anyway, I was inspired by the Anubismon designs earlier in this thread. I wanted to post it a few days ago, but my internet has been down for days now. When I heard the whole thing of "Egyptian legends", my mind made the jump to Greek legends. Finally, I decided to base it off of the Minotaur. It seemed too Dark/Fight, though, so I made the sand braking off as the ground qualities. I only colored the sand, because I felt like it needed to be colored, but I'd like any suggestions for the rest of the body. C+C please!

By the way, if the picture is compressed wrong, is it okay if you delete the picture, not the post?

Description

Name: The Gila Monster Pokemon

A rare Pokemon that lives in deserts and feeds off shrubs that grow by the banks of oases. Each oasis is known only to the (CAP9) that 'owns' it, and it will guard them extremely jealously. Once attacked it will return attacks in equal measure, and if its foe tries to retreat, it will follow it to the ends of the earth and destroy it before returning to its home. It can travel at 40mph across sand and can trigger Earthquakes as it runs. The colour of its spots determines its maturity; no two (CAP9)'s spots are exactly the same.

I call it Anthoris. It can burrow into the ground and scare away pokemon by leaving it's large abdomen showing. One of the things I like about this creature is it's ability to weave web like structures out of rock and stone. It is a very good digger and is intimidating up close. FEEDBACK IS GREATLY APPRECIATED

This is one of the original concepts for it.

I hope you like it! I see I'm against some very worthy opponents, but that is part of the fun! By the way this is the somewhat finished product of my brother (Pink) and my concept. I can't wait to finish.

Wow. I know I had said KoA's was the best, but right now I'm not sure wether my vote would go to him or Mysteriousfellow. Great work, both of you. Also, Caladbog's Armadillo (the darker one) is also a really solid competitor

Please don't take this the wrong way, as you made it look magnificient, but to me this looks kind of suicune'ish. Now I don't mean to sound negative on the CAP idea here, but perhaps you'd like to tweak this design a bit more so that it is more distinctive. Nice drawing either way, I just wanted to say that if you were looking for a way to get that last little bit of more support. :)

That's no way to talk! Your design is among my favorites. Just because people don't comment doesn't mean that they don't care. It just means that it's so awesome that they have nothing to say!
Indeed. I only got one open voice of support for Checkmate in this topic.

BTW, am I allowed to post new pictures to the gallery post-final submssion? I have a pre-evo page idea.
