RNG Reporter 9 Public Beta 2

New features in RNG Reporter 9, as described by the people of #smogonwifi:

Multi-Core Optimizations

<Nexus> Now RNG reporter can draw on the processing abilitites of multiple cores to speed up searching.

OD Note: If you try to set for more CPU cores than you have, you won't notice any improvement. So don't set it for more than 2 cores if you have a dual-core system, 4 cores if you have a quad-core system, etc. Also this optimization is only for 5th gen searches for the moment. If you don't know how many CPU cores your computer has, don't worry - RNG Reporter automatically sets the correct number.

DS Parameters Finder

<Nexus> DS parameters search lets the user determine the specific vcount, RW timer, GX stat and Vframe for their manner of play, whether it be on a DS lite/DS brick or using an actual cartridge or flash cart. Currently does not support DSi

OD Note: You need to find these parameters for your DS before you can manipulate the 5th Gen RNG. You should probably go to this window first.

Real-Time Results in Time Finder

<Nexus>The realtime timefinder generates seeds for use and updates the results over time instead of making the user wait for a list of results

Search Within Search Results

<Nexus> search within results lets you search for a range of IVs or specific set of IVs once you have generated a list of seeds using Time finder instead of having to examining each result.
<OmegaDonut> good enough
<OmegaDonut> it's actually so you can look at your list of shiny spreads and find if they also have good IVs on that seed
<OmegaDonut> since PID and IVs are no longer linked

very pro; messed with it a little (no actual RNGing right now) and seemed easy enough, but one question (probably noob question but whatever); do the 00's in front of time like 00:24:12 when changing time on the DS menu?

I'm not getting any results when finding the parameters. Nexus said it should work with flash carts but I'm still not getting any results. I'm using a DS lite with a MAC address 001B7A84D421.

Flashcarts are trouble. All I can tell you is that you should use these AR codes to find the VCount and RWTimer:
(please note that these only work for some flashcarts, on a real cart these cause the game to whitescreen)

How to use these codes:
1) Open up the trainer case and then hit Select. (If you hit Select any time before this, your game will freeze.)
2) Look at the Trainer Card. Your VCount will be your money and your RWTimer will be your trainer ID.
3) Convert these values to hex.
4) Restart the game a couple of times, taking note of your VCount and RWTimer values. VCount should stay the same, RWTimer may fluctuate slightly.
NOTE: xElite has reported that VCount fluctuates on his Acekard 2i, but only when he hard-resets. Soft-resetting gets him similar results every time, however if you are holding down a button at the moment the seed is generated the seed will change!
5) Go through the DS Parameters process, and enter the following for your search ranges:

Seconds: Max seconds should be your starting time +10.
VCount: should be the value the code tells you, in hex
RWTimer: min and max values should be the min and max values you got from the code, -/+ 15
GxStat: 0 to 10
VFrame: 0 to 10

If it doesn't find you your parameters the first time, keep widening the search range.

Just DL'd the Beta, it seems really awesome. You guys made a wonderful work !

'Just have two little questions in order to get really started once and for all:

1) when do we exactly need to press the Key Combo ? As we launch the game at the DS menu screen ?

2) a Non-CGear seed needs to land on a second, but what is the "moment" of this second ? As we say "No" to C-Gear just after selecting our game, when the season appears.. ?

Thanks a lot for these ultimate answers which I hope will allow me to start RNG abusing on my White ^^.

EDIT: is using max repels to count our steps viable ?

At the exact time, you have to start/soft reset your game. That's when the seed is called. It helps to count your steps if you actually use max repels, super repels, repels.

No idea for the Keypress combo thing ? Also, I don't think it is specified in the guide p.1, what is the initial frame for Nature/gender/ability ? Is it always 1 or does it follow the same rules as the starting frame (C-Gear, Non-CGear, Egg, wild encounter,..) ?

Thanks again :)

Non C-Gear seeds are generated before the very first "The Pokemon Company" logo shows up. For the keypress combo, you need to be holding down the right key from the point you start the game from the DS menu (or soft-reset) until that logo appears.

I appoligize (post deleted), I should have taken more time to read it, thanks!

But what about an old DS? It ain't supported, right?
DS Lite\DS bricks are supported.

I just fixed a major bug with Search Within Results that cause it to use the wrong seed for Method 5 (non-C Gear).

Please download again, the link's been updated.

Thanks, I'm now searching, I have widened my RWTimer by +- 300 and VCount +- 30

And does it matter, if the seconds, you have to enter at the left side of the screen (where you have to enter the date too) is off by one? Because I'm not pretty sure if I hit that second, perhaps it is one off.

That's the point of the min\max seconds range, to search a range of seconds just in case.

use it just like the half-seed check codes. hitting L at the badge screen will give you the upper half(seed2) of your 64-bit seed, hitting R at the badge screen will give you the lower half(seed1) of your 64-bit seed

use this for faster DS parameter searches. enter the seed as upperlower, same order as i did with the triggers.

...of course, having the AR messes up your seed to begin with. This is just so we can figure out the new parameters with the AR in place.

i was just coming back to add that, sorry for leaving out the most important part!

e: it's useful for searching for flash card parameters, too.

Do we have to use Sweet Scent to find the wild pokemon, or can we just walk around? And, instead of catching a high level pokemon, can we just use an AR to check the IVs?

Or will that mess something up? I want to find my parameters ASAP, so thanks in advance.

This seems to say that it'll mess it up if you start the game with the AR in.

To get around that you should be able to save the game after catching the poke and recording the catch time info and start it back up with the AR in to check IVs.

That seems easy enough! Thanks :D
