Arena: Mirage Island in the Hoenn region
http://www.serebii.net/pokearth/hoen...geisland.shtml
A small island in the middle of the seabound Route 130, the appearance of which is considered an extremely lucky occurrence. Why not take advantage of such an occasion with a rousing battle? The small island is covered by a short layer of grass, as well as a larger patch of tall grass where Wynaut roam care-free, two small groves of trees, and a unique native berry plant, the Liechi tree! ...oh, but too bad, it looks like someone already picked the berries. D: What a shame.

Notable features:
- The beach and ocean are off-limits. This battle is to take place only on the uplifted grassy bulk of the island, which provides a fairly large battlefield despite the island's relatively small size.
- Wynaut may interrupt the battle (20%). These little creatures are very curious and have never seen any human or Pokemon other than each other, and are bound to come forth for a closer look. Beware though, if a stray attack hits a hapless Wynaut, it will throw it back in the attacker's face with Counter for physical moves, Mirror Coat for special moves, and Encore for non-attacking moves.
- The weather is clear and bright, what a pleasant little locale. Weather will not change unless changed by weather-inducing moves, all of which will work equally well.

Ice Beam
Rain Dance
Scald

First testflight, this should be a fairly easy one, girl, but let's take it seriously, anyway.

Start by wrapping yourself in a Mist. Now aim a Water Gun, then a Water Pulse at Charmander's tail if you can.

Shit. This is exactly what I was afraid of... Mist was a smart opening move. Well, on the plus side, at least we have one supereffective move going for us. "All right, don't sweat the type difference, we got this! Lead the charge with Dragon Dance, then nail'er to the floor with Ancientpower! Keep that Water Gun away from your tail at all costs, now! And last, it's time to bust another move with Dragon Dance, use the movement of the dance move to fall back into the nearest grove of trees, where she won't be able to navigate as well in the air!"

Dragon Dance > Ancientpower > evasive Dragon Dance

Round One Start!
Welcome to Mirage Island, an island that appears to be a mirage (duh). Surrounded by the enchanting blue waves of the sea, Mirage Island is home to a multitude of Wynauts and Liechi Berries, though some person has come in and taken all the berries away. Up at the very highest point of the island, our two competitors stand / fly, the long grass waving gracefully on the ground. Flying on the north end is Lunchbox the Wingull, her beak snapping happily. Standing on the south end is Aether the Charmander, and oops! It seems like his tail has just set fire to some grass (irrelevant).

As soon as the round starts, Lunchbox opens her mouth, thick white fog rolling out. The cloud spreads out around the arena, but it seems to be moving with the Wingull. Unperturbed by the strange cloud, Aether stimulates his muscles with a fighting dance, aided by the spirit of ancient dragons (gasp). This raises his Attack and Speed by one stage each.

With newfound strength in his muscles, Aether summons a glowing white ball from the bowels of earth. With the ancient force of the earth behind it, the white ball is flung towards Lunchbox, who takes significant damage from it. Quickly recovering from the blow, Lunchbox shoots a small squirt of water at the Charmander, who takes a large amount of damage from the attack.

Aether, not wanting to take another water-based attack, performs the fighting dance once again, raising his Attack and Speed by another stage. However, the Charmander quickly ducks into one of the patches of dense greenery while dancing, hoping that the water will splatter harmlessly against the tree trunks. Wingull quickly pursues her foe, sending out a ring of water to assail the hiding Charmander. Some parts of the ring are met with the resistance of trees, most others miss, but a small portion manages to hit Aether, albeit for slightly reduced damage.

Wingull is flying around the outskirts of the tree grove #1. Aether is hiding behind a tree in the middle-ish, and most of the grove is damp from the Water Pulse.

I flinch as the Water attacks nail Charmander... But the small patch of scorched grass where Aether started out gives me an idea. "Ouch.... it's okay, this is far from over. Next I want you to keep on the move, weaving your way throughout the grove, and most importantly, keep your tail held low to the ground, and use Ember on the trees around you to set the grove ablaze! The trees' closeness already makes it hard for her to navigate, let's see his Chickenwing fly through that without getting a nasty burn! Next up you'll nail her with another Ancientpower attack, and use another evasive Dragon Dance to prepare for round 3!"

run like a pussy while setting fire to the grass and trees with tail and
Ember > Ancientpower > evasive Dragon Dance

Setting the trees on fire, huh? I've met your kind. Ruthlessness may cause carnage, but it will never triumph!

Start by dampening Banryu's plans with a Rain Dance. Now hit him hard with another Water Pulse. While it dances in the rain, let's take a precaution and set up an Aqua Ring.

Round Two Start!

The island is clear and bright; the grass is green, and the trees are tall. Hidden beneath a ledge, a small tribe of Wynaut hear sounds of battling. They are curious. They aren't few. When will they show?

Aether, like a madman, runs around the small grove of trees, setting fire to everything with his tail. After running in a circle, the Charmander throws a small bunch of flames at the flying Lunchbox, dealing a trivial amount of damage. Lunchbox swoops around the sky, performing an aerial dance, which causes rain to start falling upon the island. A Wynaut peeps over the edge and crawls his way up to the arena, an extremely curious look on his face. Wow, what an exciting match!

The Charmander summons up another ball of glowing white energy. Backed by the power of the earth, he flings it at the flying Lunchbox, who takes significant damage from the attack. Lunchbox retaliates by sending another ring of water flying through the air, dealing a large amount of damage to Aether. However, a small section of the ring hits the hapless Wynaut, who instinctively covers himself with a mirror-like substance, which bounces the attack back at Wingull, forcing it to take 21 HP's worth of damage. Ouch. Hey, it appears that another Wynaut has appeared! She walks over to the male Wynaut, and they appear to greet each other. This is getting stranger and stranger!

Lastly, Aether performs the fighting dance once again in order to stimulate his muscles. The dance raises his Attack and Speed by one stage each, in addition to making himself feel confident and strong. Lunchbox takes the opportunity to do some supporting as well, creating a ring of water around him that pulsates with a healing glow. The pair of Wynauts look on, entranced, as the battle continues.

Finish off by hitting Aether with another Brine.

"Ach, rain... forgot about that, yeah. Well it's no problem for us, we can put a stop to that right now by making it Sunny and bright! That'll weaken the power of the Water attacks, I shoulda thought of that before! Next I want you to position yourself behind those Wynaut, and aim an Ancientpower over their heads, taking the utmost care not to hit them! Finally, it's time to give that gull a nasty shock, show her your Scariest Face! Stay behind your little blue buddies all the while, that'll make them think twice about attacking you!"

Sunny Day > Ancientpower (aimed over the heads of the Wynaut) > Scary Face
(Assuming Ancientpower is performed the way its attack animation looks in-game, raising the rock energy high enough such that it won't connect with the Wynaut should be a fairly simple matter, I think. I better go eat breakfast now lolololol.)

As the rain continues to fall on Mirage Island, the tribe of Wynauts slowly make their way up to the top. Their two scouts, Wine and Whine, have reported an exciting battle, and both the young and the elderly scramble their way up thethe slopes. Aether, still in the trees, comes with a daring plan, while Lunchbox waits patiently, her ring of water healing her slowly.

Still stimulated, Aether dances around the grove, creating a red beam that shoots up through the clouds. Moments later, the cloud cover quickly parts, making way for a full, glorious sun. The flame at the end of the Charmander's tail flares happily as the island grows warmer and warmer. Lunchbox, not very happy by this turn of events, quickly dives into the trees and blasts Aether with salt water; luckily, the sunlight evaporates some of the water, but the attack still does quite a bit of damage.

Running like this person's avatar, Aether quickly makes his way through the grove of trees, past the flat plain, and behind the two Wynauts. They turn around and approach him, looking curiously at the Pokemon's physical features: lizard-like structure, red body, flaming tail. They record this information into their brains as Lunchbox soars out into the sky, letting loose a Supersonic screech. The Wynauts are shocked by this strange attack, becoming intensely confused. Aether tries to shut his ears, but he too hears the strange screech, becoming intensely confused as well.

Quite irritated by the shrill screeching of Lunchbox, Aether stands up and glares at the Wingull with an extremely intimidating expression, lowering Lunchbox's Speed by two stages. Lunchbox, though scared, takes the opportunity to blast another jet of salt water at the Charmander, who takes a large amount of damage from the attack. Part of the attack, however, hits Wine the Wynaut, who instinctively covers himself in the mirror-like substance again. Unfortunately for the Wynaut, he is unable to bounce the attack back, instead hitting himself in confusion for a small bit of damage.

Round Four Start!

Unlike the rainy skies of Mirage Island about ten seconds ago, the weather on the island has quickly improved; there are no gray clouds present in the sky. White, fluffy clouds line the clear blue sky, and an orb of orange-red hangs brightly in the sky.

While Aether confusedly summons another ball of glowing white energy from the earth, Lunchbox attempts to circumvent the incoming attack. As the attack is fires at the soaring Wingull, she uses Quick Attack in order to dodge the ball of energy. She does so successfully, ending her ultra-speed flight in front of Aether, who is in front of the Wynaut duo. The orb fires off into the sky and lands in Mauville City, where citizens hear cries of "We're blasting off again!", followed by a twinkle in the sky.

Still confused, Aether quickly whirls around, shooting a large stream of fiery blue flames that emanate mystical power. The flames don't seem to become larger under the sunlight, but they don't seem to be diminished by the water in Lunchbox. One thing's for sure, though: it deals 10 damage. Lunchbox retaliates, sending a vicious twister towards the Charmander. Aether gets caught in the air currents and is carried away far away from the Wynauts, who smile absentmindedly!

After escaping the deadly currents of the twister, Aether finally regains his senses. He summons up another glowing white ball of ancient energy, spins around and flings it as hard as he possibly can at the flying Lunchbox. The ball of energy smacks the Wingull right on the beak, dealing more damage than expected. Miffed by the painful hit, Lunchbox swoops down towards Aether and blasts salt water at the fire lizard, rubbing salt in his wounds both literally and metaphorically.

Dragon Dance, then spam Ancientpower until one of us goes down.

(NOTE: If Lunchbox is behind and above the Wynaut, then Aether can just DD in place or move closer before attacking with AP, since the Wynaut won't be in the way of the trajectory. If Lunchbox is near the ground behind the Wynaut, such that an attack fired from the ground would hit them, then the leaping ensues. I assumed Wingull was gonna be close to the ground.)

Lunchbox utilizes her Quick Attack skill as soon as the round start, using the extra speed to propel herself through the intimidating face of Aether, as well as zooming behind the sitting Wynauts, who are still looking on with an expression of wonder. Aether, not wanting to let the Wingull get away, Dragon Dances his way across the plain towards the Wynauts, majestically leaping over their heads. Whine and Wine clap enthusiastically, though Aether is too focused to be distracted.

Now at close range, Aether summons a large glowing sphere of AncientPower, the brilliant white sending rays into the sky that rival the ones of the bright Sun. The ball is fired at the swooping Lunchbox, slamming her wing hard. As she struggles to control her landing, she flips her head to the side and shoots a jet of water from her mouth at the Charmander. The flames on Aether's tail flicker as the water hits it, and he falls to the ground, unconscious.
