Serperior [QC 1/3]

QC Stamps: Oglemi

[Overview]
Decent Defenses no reliable recovery outside rest
Absolutely horrendous attacking movepool
Decent supporting movepool
Possesses overgrow, useless on serperior
Has the ability to phaze stat boosters

[Set]
Name: SubSeed
Move 1: Leech Seed
Move 2: Substitute
Move 3: Giga Drain
Move 4: Hidden Power Fire/Rock / Taunt
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SDef / 252 Spd

[Set Comments]

- One of the Best SubSeeders in the tier thanks to great speed and bulk
- Leech Seed and Substitute are for stalling the opponent down
- Giga Drain for more HP back every turn
- Hidden Power Fire is to do something back to Ferroseed and Roselia and other grass types from coming in and setting up
-Hidden Power Rock is for Fire and Flying types, and can KO Moltres after Stealth Rock Damage.
- Taunt is to stop setup, and with 113 base speed, he can shut down most pokemon from setting up (ninjask the one exception)

[Additional Comments]

- Entry hazards goes great with stalling the opponent
- Grass pokemons should be taken care of since Leech Seed doesn't effect Grass types. Entei makes a good Pokemon for this role, as he can also clear Bug types and Flying types with Stone Edge
-Steel and Poison types pokemon cause it problems, outstalling it even with Leech Seed. Dugtrio is a great partner for trapping both types.
-Mirror Coat can be used to bounce back status/hazards, though he doesn't have the moveslot for this.

[Set]
Name: DualScreen
Move 1: Reflect
Move 2: Light Screen
Move 3: Giga Drain
Move 4: Taunt/Hidden Power Fire/Rock
Item: Light Clay
Ability: Overgrow
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SDef / 252 Spd

[Set Comments]

- Without reliable recovery, Serperior needs to be careful when coming in on switches, but he is bulky enough to usually get both screens up.
- Giga Drain is for an attack with doesn't make him Taunt bait.
- Hidden Power Fire is to do something back to Ferroseed and Roselia and other grass types from coming in and setting up
-Hidden Power Rock can KO Moltres after Stealth Rock
- Taunt is to stop setup, and with 113 base speed, he can shut down most pokemon from setting up (Ninjask the one exception)

[Additional Comments]

- An Offensive based team can be used around Serperior, as he makes a decent lead in most situations, getting both screens up to make set-up easier for the team.
- Grass pokemons should be taken care of since Leech Seed doesn't effect Grass types. Entei makes a good Pokemon for this role, as he can also clear Bug types and Flying types with Stone Edge
- Steel and Poison types pokemon cause it problems, outstalling it even with Leech Seed. Dugtrio is a great partner for trapping both types.

[Other Options]
- Dragon Tail can also be used in conjunction with entry hazards to rack up damage on the oppoentnts team, though Leech Seed would contradict with this. A set of Dragon Tail/Glare/Substitute/Giga Drain can be utilized with this.
- Glare can be used as team support in the last slot, though he then loses to Ferroseed and Bug Types. Also, low Accuracy makes it undesirable, as other pokemon like Ferroseed can abuse more accurate Thunder Wave much better.
- Coil can be used to increase his Defense and Attack, while making Leech Seed more accurate in the process. A set to utilize this would be Dragon Tail/Glare/Coil/Leaf Blade or Giga Drain on a full stall team.
- Serperior's limited movepool and horrid attack stats prevents it from using an offensive set, however, a Calm Mind set with Calm Mind/Giga Drain/Hidden Power Rock/Fire/Substitute can be used as a bulky attacker, however a horrid 75 base special attack means it lacks power.

[Checks and Counters]

-Ferroseed a good check, however, Ferroseed can be shut down with Taunt, or 3/4HKOd on 252/252 by HP Fire, while being 4/5HKOd back with Gyro Ball.
-Roseila can be stopped from setting up with Taunt, however, it takes nothing from HP Fire, and 2HKOs with Sludge Bomb
-Durant and and Galvantula can set up with a Sub to block Leech Seed and set up with a stat boosting move. Exception if Serperior carries Hidden Power Fire
-Lilligant sets up all over Serperior, being immune to Leech Seed while setting up Quiver Dances, unless you run Taunt

[Dream World]
- When Contrary is out, Serperior may be OU. But as long as he's in NU, a set with 4HP/252 SAtk/252 Spd with Leaf Storm/Substitute/Leech Seed/HP Fire makes him a great offensive based SubSeeder, while keeping offensive pressure on the opponent.

Take a look at the Analysis Formatting Guide. The first thing you should do is add paragraph tags (
and
) as shown in the link. Nothing should be bolded though.

I'm not sure if you're going to add to this, but it needs to be fleshed out and cleaned up before QC can get onto it. Expand upon the information, i.e. what does the set do? How does it affect the enemy team? How will they have to play around it? Which specific Pokemon give Serperior trouble? (in the counters section) The set comments need to be more descriptive than "this move does this."

Also, a few grammatical nitpicks; The word "Pokemon" is both plural and singular. Pokemons is incorrect.

Effect is a noun, affect is a verb. Using Trick Room produces an effect, and Toxic can affect Water-types.

Add a sprite to the head of the analysis as well, makes it look more presentable.

Good luck!

Mmk, you state that Serperior is "One of the Best SubSeeders in the tier thanks to great speed and bulk", yet you in no way try to make use of his speed. I'd say that a 252 Hp/4 SDef / 252 Spd spread is usually plenty effective, as otherwise he's already being outclassed by Ferroseed, who is bulkier, has better typing in most cases and access to TWave and Spikes/SR. IMO, the Subseed set should look like this:

[Set]
Name: SubSeed
Move 1: Leech Seed
Move 2: Substitute
Move 3: Giga Drain
Move 4: Hidden Power Fire / Taunt
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SDef / 252 Spd

Glare in the AC, and be sure to mention what separates him from his fellow SubSeeders in the tier. Also, I'd say that Dual Screens deserves it's own set. Being the fastest user of them, combined with access to Taunt definitely allows him to be run viably. Lastly, Coil definitely deserves mention in the OO, the added bulk makes him rather difficult to take down, especially in conjunction with Dragon Tail

You're missing this:

[Set]
Name: Coil Parashuffler
Move 1: Coil
Move 2: Glare
Move 3: Dragon Tail
Move 4: Leaf Blade
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe

Spread paralysis and rack up hazard damage with accuracy-boosted Glare and Dragon Tail. Leaf Blade is filler, but can do decent damage after some boosts. 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe can be used for a faster Leaf Blade, but the bulk is preferred due to Dragon Tail's negative priority.

Erp, semi-ninja'd. Either way, this deserves consideration as a solidly defined set.

I think subseed + torment could work also. leech seed / subsititute / torment / protect is great at stalling things out with the spread col49 mentioned. I know it is tuant bait but so is the one in the op.

Roselia and Ferroseed destroy Serperior, both not caring about paralysis, and hitting hard with a super effective Sludge Bomb, and somewhat powerful Gyro Ball, respectively. Basically any faster Pokemon that is not weak to Grass-type moves or Hidden Power with Substitute can easily win against Serperior. Because there is almost no Speed investment, things like Lilligant and others in the base 90-100 Speed range outspeed and set up / attack Serperior before it can do anything. Also make sure to emphasize the reasons why anyone would want to use this over Sceptile, who is faster and has much better offensive prowess. Some of those factors include Glare, Dragon Tail, and Taunt. I would also argue for a faster EV spread, as you mention a lot about Serperior's Speed, yet you don't even invest in it for the main spread.

Your missing the Dream World section.
Then you should mention Bug- types as a Counter along with Flying- and Fire- types. (Eg: Durant and and Galvantula can set up with a Sub to block Leech Seed and set up with a stat boosting move. Exception if Serperior carries Hidden Power Fire)
The Counter section should be [Checks and Counters]
Mention a few checks.
And as Omicron said, Lilligant sets up all over Serperior. Mention in Checks and Counters.
Mention some teammates in AC too.
Maybe mention Leaf Storm in OO?

Gl!

How about this gimmicky set:
ContraStorm
Ability: Contrary
Nature: Timid
Item: Choice Specs
252 Spe & SpA
Moves:
Leaf Storm
3 Other Useless Moves

Also, "state" boosters should be changed to "stat"
This is not Vladimir Putin's Pokemon.

It's ability is unreleased. On smogon, your not allowed to write an analysis on a set with a Pokemon's Dream World ability if that Dream World ability is not released.

EDIT: Ninja'd

The SubSeed set is really cool, though I ran max HP and max Speed and it worked brilliantly. Imo Serperior doesn't really need max defense too and it's speed is what really separates it from the pack.

I'll try out the Coil set at some later point, but I'll stamp the SubSeed set for now.
