[SET COMMENTS]

<p>Because of its initially fearsome power and speed, it isn't uncommon for Jolteon to force switches. This set can take advantage of this by setting up a Substitute, enabling Jolteon to scout the opponent's reaction and respond depending on the situation. For instance, if the opposing Pokemon does switch out, Jolteon has basically earned free protection against the switch-in, giving it an opportunity to attack that foe or pass its Substitute to another teammate. If the foe does stay in, Jolteon can simply strike it down with the correct move. As this set takes two moveslots for Substitute and Baton Pass, Jolteon will have to resort to the classic pseudo BoltBeam combo, providing excellent coverage in Thunderbolt and Hidden Power Ice.</p>

<p>This set's largest advantage over other sets is its access to reliable scouting, easily taking momentum from any situation without risking Volt Switch being blocked by a Ground-type. More often than not, Jolteon can also find opportunities to pass Substitutes to one of its teammates, surely earning your team the upper hand. Beware, however, that once Jolteon's strategy has been revealed, the opponent will likely attempt to break Jolteon's Substitutes to decrease its health. Do not be overzealous with Substitute if you cannot afford to.</p>

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

<p>This set can provide utility for a lot of teams, as Jolteon's excellent speed, when maximized, allows it to outrun +1 Adamant Dragonite and Gyarados, filling a revenge killing role when needed. Passing Substitutes is a great support tactic for any attacker, giving the receiver protection and chances to set up. This set can even be used in Baton Pass chains; Stored Power is a very powerful attacking option in this case. Thunder is an obvious option for Drizzle teams, while Charge Beam can also be used for STAB to possibly pass special attack boosts. This, however, usually isn't necessary and makes Jolteon an initially less effective revenge killer. While Hidden Power Grass may be appealing for win conditions against the likes of Quagsire and Gastrodon, Hidden Power Ice is an arguably more substantial option due to the popularity of 4x Ice-weak threats, namely Dragonite and Gliscor. Additionally, Jolteon can simply take advantage of Substitute and Baton Pass to escape from those types of counters.</p>

<p>The main item is Leftovers , which prevents residual damage from piling up with entry hazards and weather damage. Life Orb is the other choice, equipped in order to maximize Jolteon's power for its own sweep. Keep in mind that this, in turn, cuts down on the amount of Substitutes Jolteon can make, so Jolteon's item choice should come from testing with your own team. Magnet is another alternative that can provide extra STAB power for Jolteon, and it also both avoids the residual damage Life Orb would cause and disguises Jolteon as a Choiced sweeper. On the same note, Expert Belt can also be considered for providing power without recoil, though keep in mind that with only Thunderbolt and Hidden Power Ice in tow, Jolteon won't be hitting much super effectively. </p>

<p>Scizor is an ideal example of a teammate that appreciates being passed a Substitute; it can use it to switch in safely and set up on a vast amount of Pokemon that can wall this Jolteon, including Tyranitar, Ferrothorn, and Blissey. Another possible teammate would be Gyarados, which can complete the classic "GyaraJolt" combo, which discourages the opponent's attempts to catch Jolteon with a Ground-type attack. Substitute + Reversal Dugtrio is particularly useful to trap and kill the special walls that give Jolteon trouble. Generally, strong physical attackers have the best direct synergy with this Jolteon. This set is very difficult to counter considering that Jolteon can just Baton Pass out of any counter, while giving its recipient a Substitute. Unless you have a Pokemon that can handle the opponent's entire team, the closest thing you can get to a direct stop is Whimsicott's priority Encore, assuming Whimsicott switches in on a Substitute or a Thunderbolt. Phazers such as Swampert and Latias can also work, but fail against teammates with Taunt or Magic Bounce.</p>

Woah. Woah. Hold up.

The Additional Comments section is WAY too long, amongst other things like the options. I'll get back to this and MAY do an amateur check as soon as I receive proper time, if somebody doesn't get here first.

I wanted to be sure I left nothing important out, anyway, thanks for pointing it out. I'll keep any changes in mind for future write-ups.

[SET COMMENTS]

<p>Because of Jolteon’s power and speed, it isn’t uncommon for it to force switches. This set can take advantage of the situation by setting up a Substitute, earning a free Substitute to pass if they switch and preventing Jolteon from taking too much damage if they don’t. Thunderbolt is chosen as the reliable STAB and paired with HP Ice, giving excellent coverage and revenge killing utility.</p>

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

<p>This set can provide utility for a lot of teams. Its excellent speed allows to it outrun +1 Adamant Dragonite and Gyarados, filling a revenge killing role when needed. The listed EVs fill the standard role of maximizing Jolteon’s power and speed. More HP or defensive EVs could be used to create larger subs; potentially surviving Scarf U-Turns from certain pokemon or weaker attacks. Passing Subs is a great support tactic for any attacker, giving it spots on offensive teams. It can even be used in Baton Pass chains; Stored Power is a very powerful attacking option in this case. Thunder is an obvious option for Drizzle teams, Charge Beam can also be used for STAB to possibly pass special attack boosts but this usually isn’t necessary and makes Jolteon a less effective revenge killer. Work Up can also be used to pass power boosts; it should be used over HP Ice if you choose to use it. Hidden Power Grass has lost a lot of ground in the classic fight vs. Ice on Electric types, especially with Dragonite and Gliscor being so popular but it is still useful for Water/Grounds.</p>

<p>The main item choice is Leftovers to counter residual damage piling up from entry hazards, setting up Substitutes, and possibly enduring weather damage. Life Orb is the other primary choice in order to maximize Jolteon’s power for its own sweep. Keep in mind that this cuts down on the amount of Substitutes Jolteon can make, so your item choice should come from testing with your own team. Magnet and Zap Plate are a couple more alternative items that can provide extra STAB power for Jolteon while avoiding the residual damage Life Orb would cause. Expert Belt is a good choice to really put the hurt on Ground type switch-ins and again avoids Life Orb recoil.</p>

<p>Scizor is an ideal example of a pokemon who appreciates a Substitute; it can use it to either switch in safely or set up on a vast amount of pokemon that can wall this Jolteon, like Tyranitar, Ferrothorn, and Blissey. Gyarados can complete the classic “GyaraJolt” combo, reducing the opponent’s incentive to try and hit Jolteon with a Ground attack. Substitute+Reversal Dugtrio is particularly useful to trap and kill the special walls that give Jolteon trouble. Generally, strong physical attackers have the best direct synergy with this Jolteon. This set is very difficult to counter considering that Jolteon can just Baton Pass out of any counter, while giving its recipient a Substitute. You have wayy too many little paragraphs that could be combined. Also, the blurb about the item choice in the SET COMMENTS should go in the AC. I've combined the AC paragraphs into three for you and moved the paragraph accordingly.

However, the SET COMMENTS now look a little sparse, so you might want to move some stuff from the AC regarding regular move choice and how to use Jolteon in order to make it a little longer. Or you could just add another paragraph at the risk of sounding a bit redundant.

Thanks Omicron, ill edit this post when I've finished polishing the comments.

Edit- Done with attempt 2.

In the second p tag, isn't the first sentence redundant? I feel that the same is also true about the second sentence of that same paragraph, as well. I don't know if you need to mention soundproof pokemon, but I haven't seen a ton of Baton Pass teams to make a well informed judgement. That's about it, looks good so far!

Okay! I finally got to this. Mind you, this isn't an official GP check, but I attempted to improve a few places. Few notes:
  • Please properly spell/capitalize all Pokemon-related/coined terms appropriately. For example, Smogon analyses do not use the term "HP Ice"; rather, they use Hidden Power Ice.
  • Awkwardly phrased sections here and there. I found one instance of a sentence where a semicolon was unnecessary.
  • No curly apostrophes. I couldn't fix them in my check, so it'd be appreciated if you could find all of them (use Control + F) and replace them with a straight one.
  • Set Comments were a bit sparce and idn't really cover Jolteon's function, so I fleshed it out.
  • Fluff fluff fluff. Avoid it.

Implemented. Only question is about the apostrophes, they all look straight to me right now.

Edit-

I removed the in there, didn't find anything else I disagreed with.

Checks implemented. Im assuming that including Zap Plate in the items section isn't that important because Magnet does the exact same thing, so this is probably done.

I thought that this pokemon set was exposed to be on dedicated baton pass teams as it allowed it to deal with some paticular threats as that was the original idea behind baton pass jolteon, and that is the only type of teams that I have seen Baton pass Jolteon, and I have loged A LOT of hours on the PO. Unfortunatly this set lost a lot of it viablity when thunderous was banned because it was the only pokemon that could learn baton pass and still be able to beat thunderous, who was a full stop to baton pass teams.I am not sure about the viability of life orb as that severly limits the number of substitutes Jolteon is able to make. I understand that is it kind of late to make a comment like this on an analysis that has two GP checks though.

You kind of missed the point. This Jolteon isn't specifically designed to function on dedicated Baton Pass teams; rather, it's a quite different Pokemon. On the analysis, it said Jolteon could be used on these teams, but the existence of Baton Pass teams isn't the reason this set was made. This Jolteon was made to fit on offensive/balanced team and gain momentum by scouting with Substitute and Baton Pass. You declare that this Jolteon isn't as viable for the sole reason of Thundurus and low usage, which is irrelevant because it's just not that kind of Jolteon.

Also, Life Orb + Substitute is fine, if not an obviously riskier option than Leftovers. If you flip through archives, you can see that Life Orb + Substitute is listed as an underrated moveset.

upload.

EDIT: Yee, fix this:

<p>The main item is Leftovers(Space), which prevents residual damage from piling up with entry hazards and weather damage.
