[Overview]

Originally a final evolution back in GSC, Piloswine was not given much importance in the previous generation due to being rewarded with a much stronger evolution. However, BW gave Piloswine an advantage over Mamoswine: Eviolite. With Eviolite, Piloswine is now bulkier than Mamoswine, and when paired with a respectably high Attack stat, Piloswine can finally be properly used in the lower tiers. Its amazing offensive typing and powerful STAB moves make it a very strong, bulky offensive Pokemon. Piloswine also has a good support movepool, being able to lay down Stealth Rock and poison the opponents with Toxic, even though it lacks a viable form of recovery. Therefore, Piloswine can be a viable choice for any weather team, without you having to worry about major disadvantages. However, Piloswine is not known for its Speed, making it tougher for Pilsowine to sweep.

[SET]
name: Defensive
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Ice Shard
move 3: Earthquake
move 4: Toxic
item: Eviolite
nature: Impish
evs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def

[SET COMMENTS]

This set takes advantage of Piloswine's strengths: good HP, and Attack stats, a reasonable Defense stat, and the ability to make use of Eviolite. With the combination of these four, Piloswine can work as a physical tank with multiple functions: it can take hits from physical threats while hitting hard when needed with Earthquake, it can revenge kill weak opponents with Ice Shard, and it can support the team by laying down Stealth Rock, thus racking up crucial residual damage, or inflicting Toxic poison on the opponent's Pokemon. This allows Piloswine's teammates to KO the opposing Pokemon with ease after residual damage provided from weak hits, entry hazards, or Toxic stalling.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Piloswine has two abilities in it arsenal: Oblivious and Snow Cloak. However, they are not very useful; while Oblivious prevents Piloswine from falling in love by being hit by an Attract, whereas Snow Cloak raises Piloswine's evasion in Hail, but since Snover was removed from NU, Hail is now very uncommon. In order to use this set to its fullest potential, Piloswine needs maximum investment in HP and Defense in order to take hits from physically offensive Pokemon, such as Swellow and Golem, keeping these Pokemon from sweeping. Some Attack investment can be used if you need Piloswine to hit a little bit harder. In addition, Piloswine hates status, both burn and poison, since either will hinder either Piloswine's survivability, or its offensive performance. For this reason, Rest is a viable option over Toxic, since it's Piloswine's only form of recovery, but that would require a presence of a cleric, such as Lickilicky or Audino, both providing Wish support as well. Mismagius is also an excelent partner for Piloswine since it can heal Piloswine from any status conditions by using Heal Bell, it is immune to Fighting-type moves which Piloswine is weak to and, finally, Misdreavus can burn the opponents with Will-O-Wisp, thus making Piloswine's job of walling physical threats a lot easier.

[SET]
name: Offensive
move 1: Earthquake
move 2: Icicle Crash / Icicle Spear
move 3: Ice Shard
move 4: Stone Edge / Superpower
item: Choice Band / Eviolite
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

With a usable base 100 Attack and a wide movepool, Piloswine can use this to its offensive advantage. Earthquake is a menace to every Pokemon that does not resist it or is immune to it and thus it is Piloswine's main offensive choice. It also has the potential to break through most walls, since most of the physical walls in the tier are weak to Ground-type moves. Icicle Crash and Icicle Spear are Piloswine's secondary STAB moves, though they have different purposes. Despite both hitting Flying-types for super effective damage, Icicle Crash is overall a safer move with a chance to flinch, while Icicle Spear can be tricky but it has the ability to hit through Substitute. Ice Shard lets Piloswine perform the job of a revenge killer by picking off weakened Pokemon. As for the last slot, it's a matter of preference. If you chose Icicle Crash, you'll have to use Stone Edge, since Superpower is illegal with Icicle Crash. However, if you chose Icicle Spear, you can use either one. Superpower has more power, but it lowers Piloswine's Attack and Defense, whereas Stone Edge has a shaky accuracy, but doesn't lower any stat.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Piloswine has two usable abilities: Oblivious, which prevents Piloswine from getting infatuated and Snow Cloak which raises Piloswine's evasion under Hail. However, the abilities are not very useful because they are very circumstantial, since Hail dropped in usage after Snover getting banned and Attract is generally a very uncommon move. The choice of the item is a matter of what you are looking for on Piloswine. Choice Band takes Piloswine to another level, while Eviolite lets Piloswine hit hard with the ability to switch moves and take some hits better. Since Piloswine is very slow, there's no point in investing in Speed. Instead, the EVs are put into HP to increase Piloswine's survivability. However, it is to note that, even with Eviolite, Piloswine is still very susceptible to Special moves, therefore a Special wall like Audino, which also can give Wish support to Piloswine, is recommended. Preventing status conditions is also vital for Piloswine, as it harshly decreases Piloswine's effectiveness in battle by not being able to strike as hard as it can when burnt or by getting its survivability lowered when poisoned. Lickilicky can pass Wishes to Piloswine as well as heal it from any status conditions by using Heal Bell. The same happens with Misdreavus, which trades the ability to pass Wishes for burning opponents with Will-O-Wisp. Like every other sweeper, Piloswine loves entry hazards. As such, Pokemon such as Cradily, Miltank and Torkoal are good teammates.

[Other Options]

Piloswine has other moves in its arsenal that are also viable for use. Body Slam can be used over a coverage move to deal paralysis. Amnesia and Light Screen boost Piloswine's rather low Special Defense stat. Endeavor can be used with Ice Shard, and Curse gives Piloswine more Attack and Defense that may be useful in a sweep, though if sweeping with Piloswine, then Trick Room should be used. Speaking of which, Trick Room can also be used, since Piloswine's Speed stat is awful. Another note goes to Endure, which can be used when pinch Berries are released.

[Checks and Counters]

Nothing enjoys taking hits coming from a base 100 Attack, but there are some Pokemon that can still threaten Piloswine. Duosion is probably the best check to Piloswine, as it can take any hit, even a Choice Banded Earthquake, and set up Calm Mind/Trick Room and then proceed to sweep, while being immune to Toxic thanks to its ability, Magic Guard. Most special attackers that are not weak to Ice, and carry a Water-, Grass- or Fire-type move, such as Gorebyss, Samurott, and Magmortar, can also take care of Piloswine, since the pig has a low Special Defense stat. If Piloswine doesn't carry Rest, Toxic works perfectly since it will wear down Piloswine very fast due to its lack of a recovery move.

[Dream World]

Once Piloswine is released from Dream World, it will finally have a good ability to use: Thick Fat. It cuts in half the damage taken by Ice- and Fire-type moves, meaning Piloswine will stop having a weakness to Fire-type attacks. However, this may imply that Piloswine loses some amazing attacks like Superpower, if it does not show up as a Dream World special event move.

You need to add Snow Cloak to all sets as the ability. Oblivious is almost useless and Thick Fat unreleased.

You don't need to put 4 SpA EVs on the Endevor set.
Everything else looks cool. Maybe mention a TR set in OO.
I don't even know why I put 4 SpA in the Endeavor set, maybe for the sake of using all the 508 EVs? xD

And the TR set seems cool. Should I make it similar to the CB one or any preferable moves that are not mentioned in the CB one?

IMO, all the moves should be the same as there isn't really much point in changing the moves unless I miss something worth noticing. You could run LO > Eviolite on the TR set but you will miss shitload of bulk, which isn't exactly desirable.

I slashed both items. I am positive it will go to discussion in the QC fase so I'll just mention them both

Ice-eyes

Simper Fi
There's room for a non-Choice, non-defensive set - you could rename the CB set to 'Offensive' and slash Eviolite on it. The bulk is invaluable and switching moves is cool, especially with Ice Shard.

I thought that the policy in general was not to have Trick Room - specialised sets, other than for Pokemon that set up TR themselves. Still, a tank set seemed to work quite well in RU.

Also, Superpower is illegal with icicle crash, so you need to rearrange your slashes

Slashed in Eviolite and changed the name

I will still leave the set mentioned since I see potential on it. If QC rejects it, I'll remove it then.

Also, fixed the Superpower + Icicle Crash. Thanks for the clarification : )

Dude Santuga you can multi-quote people -.-

Anyway, the policy on Trick Room Sweeper sets is, unless the Pokemon is either a) exceptionally good in TR, b) the only set that's viable for it, or c) can actually set up TR itself and pose a threat/support the team, it generally doesn't get an analysis.

Remove the TR/Endeavor sets imo, put Endeavor into Other Options. Mention the main advantage of using Piloswine is that it doesn't get screwed by Hail like other bulky ground types do.

Remember that write-ups aren't going to be able to go onsite until January at the earliest anyway; feel free to take your time writing it up.
True, but with school and the other two analysis already reserved, might as well write this as soon as I can to get this done as soon as possible :p

S: is also immune to both weather conditions that cause HP recoil: Hail and Sandstorm is this really relevant? neither weather really exists much down here iirc. That being said this is usually used in the same vein as 'however', which I don't think is what you're going for. maybe "Therefore"?, Piloswine can be a viable choice for any weather team without having to worry about major disadvantages. However, Piloswine is not known by for its Speed, making sweeping a very difficult task to perform.

^Just a few clarifications:

- In the overview, I meant gen IV as "in the previous generation"
- I think Piloswine is a pig, at least he's a swine xD
- When I wrote this, Snover was still NU, but I'll remove any weather mentions now
- In the first set, I meant residual damage either by entry hazards or just small hits that weaken Piloswine, and then I mentioned Toxic stalling as a method alone. I am not sure if I explained myself correcly here.

At a quick glance, the ac of the first set is a bit skimpy, you only briefly mention a couple of decent teammates. I'll give this a full check when I get home in a few hours.
