Note that the Android users really did a number on these stats. "Missingno" is the value the game uses when there's an empty slot. Once you realize that "Missingno" usage is roughly five times the usage Cleffa, these stats begin to make a bit of sense.

Are we ready to kill off missy and gligar yet?

I dont think we can really say that until at least Feb's usage. They were released this month, it makes sense they're most used. By no means do I think the 3 unbanned threats are Overpowered, overcentralizing, or over anything. The biggest issue is that each one can run a plethora of sets better than any other mon - you're often hardpressed to find a reason not to use them - especially missy, who ( in all honesty) is the only worth while ghost type in LC. All the others are outclassed at spin blocking *and* sweeping and everything else.


I am surprised Mienfoo managed to remain the Number 1 fighting type over Scraggy or even Croagunk, though. Ironically; I've used scraggy more now that he has *more* checks and counters than I have in the last meta. he's just *more* fun to use thanks to the new offensive partners he has. Iunno; maybe im stupid (I mean; we all know I'm stupid. but like, maybe my reasoning is stupid).

Speaking of scraggy; I wouldnt say running Ice punch over ZHB is a one way choice. A *lot* of people assume you have Ice punch and will use their croagunk as a check (much like last meta) to fake out and vaccuum wav; amd being able to OHKO with ZHB is always a nice thing. In other words, the surprise value is nice, sometimes, though Ice Punch is a much better choice on the whole.

If Missy Murkrow and Gligar all remained unbanned (which in my opinion they should) I really think this meta will see a lot more shell smashers; for much the same reason the end of last round (I'm calling it a round despite it not being a round, just so i don't have to say "meta" all the time) drilbur became so popular - teams need to be prepared for SCraggy, AcroBat, SubPlots and Mixkrows etc etc etc that they often forget or wont be able to check Smashers. I'm not saying this is necessarily "bad"; (not checking threats is your own fault for poor team building) just that I see it happening soon.

Their was something I brought up in mIRC a while back - I think RayJay was the only one around at the time, though - and that's that with Murkrow's prankster and it's awesome support pool; weather'd teams are more viable than ever (bar when vulpix was chillin). Sun teams can abuse Priority sunny day on both Krow and cottonee while Rain teams can use Krow's pirority rain/healing to hit hard during those 5-8 turns. I'd really like to see either of these picking up as It'd definitely add some flavor to the meta.

While we're (I am) on the topic of seldom used strategies; Trick room may also be pretty viable now that the majority of teams are trying to out speed each other now that 19 is the stat to beat; bulky setters like Bronzor can set it up and let slow, powerful, bulky threats hurt from there.

Well, above 1200 stats aren't surprising at all. Gligar on top and missy second. The largest change to the meta is the vast increase of offensive threats. Yes, it's only 3 pokemon, but they have a ton of offensive possibilities (especially misdreavus). Adding on to what methmite said, not many people are prepared for SSers (including myself). There's too much to check now in the meta that it's extremely difficult to fit in a whole other slot for smashers as most good teams IMO should have some of these at least: Misdreavus general counter, Misdreavus plan B counter, Gligar/Murkrow counter (with a bit of work you can squeeze both into one slot), and now they have to have a SS counter. That's 2/3s of the team mostly checking stuff (though admitedly some checks can have further uses, but not that many) at least, and don't even get me started on scraggy.

It's really tough now to build an imaginative, original team, which in my opinion is one of the best things about LC.

Honestly, none of these stats are really all that surprising. For the remainder of my post, I'll be referring to the 1200 stats.

Primarily, Murkrow being so low seems like a surprise but is really nothing out of the ordinary. Murkrow is arguably the most dangerous mon of the unbanned, but it's very, VERY different from Misdreavus and Gligar. Murkrow's not something you can throw on any team; frankly, if you don't have an answer to a vast array of checks, Murkrow's simply not going to work. Misdreavus, on the other hand, has awesome defense and very few legitimate switch ins, making it nice on bulky offense teams which are still the dominant playstyle. Gligar is both a "hey I need a Pokemon in my 6th slot" and "hey I want to build a team around offense" mon, meaning it sees greatly more use than Murkrow or even Misdreavus. It's also important to consider Bronzor is one of its only legitimate counters, and this meta is rife with stuff that switches into Bronzor all day.

Before we say "OMG Mienfoo still dominates the tier" we need to consider something. The bans went into effect about halfway through the month. In other words, in the time since the Pokemon were unbanned, we could liberally say it got 169 uses in 1200 battles (337/2)... and in all honesty, that number's probably very, very generous. 169 is actually only 1 more occurence than Murkrow which is pretty notable, and it's nowhere near the levels of Gligar and Misdreavus as the stats might suggest.

The stats also show the rise of the 3 mons that are slowly becoming dominant forces in the tier: Bronzor, Scraggy, and Croagunk (situated at 4, 5, and 6). As these Pokemon become more common, especially Bronzor, I've seen over the last few days a dramatic increase in offensive play thanks to the core of Gligar and Scraggy. Nothing in the top 10 of the metagame is currently ready to take on the combo of a well played Gligar and Scraggy. Things will have to get more offensive in the next month as people learn of ways to counter these mons (some notable ones I've seen include Scarf Murkrow or Scarf Misdreavus or other stupid stuff). With things becoming more offensive, we see a divergence away from Eviolite, which means a lot more stuff (as some people hinted at, DST Clamperl) finds its place in this meta.

Someone was talking about Zen Headbutt Scraggy, and Scraggy already scares out Slowpoke and Misdreavus. For this reason, one can afford to run Dragon Dance / Zen Headbutt / Drain Punch / Ice Punch. By the time the opponent realizes you aren't running Crunch, they've lost Croagunk and probably Gligar if they assumed you didn't have Ice Punch.
