Homestuck

Its more that the first few acts aren't as epic and exciting as Act 5. The humour in the first few acts is awesome, but for a lot of readers it might not compare.
As much as it sounds like I hated the beginning, I didn't really. I was kinda indiscriminate.I'm like Jake English, but with comics. I'm just saying stuff like that based on most people's reactions.

Granted, there are plenty of moments where it's easy to become confused about how that world works, but the main reason I prefer PS over HS is that the former is 100% Hussie narration, while the other is a mix of narration and chatlogs (although technically still 100% Hussie). His narration tend to get to the point rather quickly, while still having room to be humorous and detailed thanks to his choice of words and similes. The logs, on the other hand, can get really lengthy despite not revealing that much, and I often find myself skimming them while searching for keywords and whatnot.
With that said, the chatlogs are obviously the thing that makes Homestuck an entirely different creation than Problem Sleuth and would be an empty shell without them, since we can actually get to know about the characters now and watch them develop over time, and there are plenty of occasions where that interaction have amused me to no end.
Have a few of my favorites.

Yes, I have to agree Problem Sleuth is an excellent story if you don't want to read through thousands and thousands of pages. In some ways its much sillier than Homestuck, but it still has a good story and is generally fun to read.
the reason i read homestuck is for the millions of call backs and call forwards. you could probably read the entire thing three times over and not catch all of them on your own.
Homestuck will eventually be a giant matroyshka egg of nested callbacks

I think the reason some people find it difficult to get in to Homestuck is from hype backlash. They hear how amazing it is from fans, and see fanart of trolls and god-tiers. Then they read the first page and it's about some kid in his room so they think "is this the same comic?". I have tried to get friends to read HS but they read the first few pages and it just doesn't strike up much interest. If someone is not a reading type, then I don't think they will enjoy HS with its chatlogs and walls of text (which is one of the parts I enjoy the most). The characters are one of HS's strong points, and probably the reason why so many people are hooked. I do agree however, that the plot has seemed to be lagging a bit recently; it seems like the comic has gotten too complicated for its own good.
