First update, I hope I'm not doing it wrong :s

[Overview]

 • Once described as the king of LC
 • Really good setup sweeper
 • High attack and excellent defenses, with dragon dance to boost its bad speed
 • Powerful STAB in HJK, healing in Drain Punch and consistent STAB in Crunch
 • Isn't bothered by status with Shed Skin and can sweep easily with Moxie
 • Unfortunately, he has some cons
 • Weakness to the most common typing in LC, Fighting
 • Nearly hard-countered by Timburr, Riolu, Croagunk, Mienfoo...
 • Weak to scarf holders with Speed > to 15, such as Murkrow or Foo
 • All in all, a really good Pokémon

[SET]
name: Dragon Dance
move 1: Dragon Dance
move 2: Hi Jump Kick
move 3: Crunch
move 4: Drain Punch / Knock Off
item: Eviolite
nature: Jolly
evs: 236 Atk / 36 SpD / 212 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

 • One of the best setup sweepers in the game
 • Dragon Dance is the pillar of this moveset
 • Gets 22 speed after a DD, allowing it to outspeed every pokémon without a scarf and 14 speed scarfers
 • HJK and Crunch are mandatory, high-powered STABs that break through nearly everything
 • Drain Punch is in the final slot for a good STAB move to use without HJK's accuracy, and also heals
 • Knock Off can be used instead as it's incredible to hit Scraggy's checks and counters on the switch-in to beat them later with a +1 HJK

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

 • EVs are kinda simple, max attack and speed with 36 SpD evs to take hits better from the special side as there's no difference between 0 and 36 Def evs on the physical side on most damage rolls
 • Shed Skin is better to take WoW from missy and random scalds, but you can use moxie to accumulate boosts. It's just a matter of preference
 • Good partners are things like Missy, Krow or Drifloon, as they don't fear fighting-types and benefit from scraggy eliminating special walls/physical walls that beat them such as Chinchou, Porygon or Lileep
 • Also, spikes are cool for scraggy as they threaten fighting-types for a OHKO with +1 HJK
 • Zen Headbutt can be used for Croagunk, but it's kinda rare and Scraggy prefers having double fighting STAB in HJK+Drain Punch or the utility of Knock Off. However, it's still a viable option if you need it to weaken poison-types
 • Adamant can be used, but jolly is better to outspeed pokémon such as scarf Snover
[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Hi Jump Kick
move 2: Crunch
move 3: Zen Headbutt
move 4: Head Smash / Drain Punch
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Moxie
nature: Jolly
evs: 36 HP / 236 Atk / 212 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

 • Good scarfer if you need something that hits hard
 • Hi Jump Kick is the move to spam, while crunch can kill weakened things
 • Zen Headbutt is the third move to hit Croagunk on the switch, also 2HKOes Foongus
 • Head Smash is the move in the last slot to threaten Larvesta/Shelmet/random flyings that can take a hit, though drain punch can be used for recovery: however, it's really weak
 • Moxie is really cool to accumulate boosts and sweep late-game

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

 • EVs are max attack, speed and leftovers in HP
 • Shed Skin isn't really an option here as Moxie is really good on scarf and he doesn't need to setup
 • This scraggy really appreciates stealth rock and spikes support as they allow him to 2HKO more things with HJK
 • Good teammates are pokémon that can lure in and KO or cripple filthy poison-types such as Koffing or Foongus that annoy Scraggy, as even with Zen Headbutt most of them aren't 2HKOed. Examples are NP Misdreavus, knock off Mienfo, etc...
 • Jolly is preferred over adamant as there's only a slight difference in power and it's unnoticeable after a moxie boost
[Other Options]

 • Bulk Up, though it's shit in a fighting-type infested metagame and murkrow everywhere
 • DD + Rest, however having only two STABs isn't great
 • LO can be used, but scraggy has a hard time setting up
 • Intimidate is cool but Shed Skin and Moxie really outweighs it
 • Bulky set with intimidate and fakeout/knockoff/drainpunch/crunch, but it's outclassed by mienfoo

[Checks and Counters]

 • MIENFOO MIENFOO MIENFOO
 • Pretty much any fighting-type
 • Scarfs with more than 15 speed, such as scarfoo or ScarfKrow
 • Things that can take a hit and threaten it with a powerful attack
 • Drilbur and even sandshrew OHKOes it with a +2 EQ, and they can both take a hit and 2HKO with EQ
 • Hippopotas kinda walls it, but it's shaky
 • All of these can be taken care of with a stray knock off on the switch-in
 • Scraggy is really difficult to hard-counter
 • Grimer gets a special mention for being immune to knock off and resisting its fighting-type, however Gunk Shot only 2HKOes and Poison Jab only 3HKOes while scraggy can 2HKO with crunch

[Overview]

Meet Scraggy, a Pokemon that was once deemed to be the king of Little Cup. Scraggy is probably the best setup sweeper in the tier, having access to a great Attack stat and good defenses, along with high-powered STABs such as Hi Jump Kick or Crunch. But the icing on the cake is Dragon Dance: with this rare move, he can boost his Attack to sky-high levels along with his less-than-impressive Speed. His abilities are even more impressive: Shed Skin grants him a pseudo-immunity to status, while Moxie allows him to sweep much easier! Unfortunately, the lizard doesn't have only pros. He's weak to the most common type in the tier, Fighting, and is hard-countered by nearly every Fighting-type in the tier, including Mienfoo, one of the most popular Pokemon in LC. He also has problems with foes holding a Choice Scarf with a Speed stat higher than 15, as they can outspeed and KO him. However, Scraggy is definitely an excellent Pokemon and one of the most dominant threats in Little Cup.

[SET]
name: Dragon Dance
move 1: Dragon Dance
move 2: Hi Jump Kick
move 3: Crunch
move 4: Drain Punch / Knock Off
item: Eviolite
nature: Jolly
evs: 236 Atk / 36 SpD / 212 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This is Scraggy's flagship set, and for good reasons. Dragon Dance is the main focus of the set, boosting his meager Speed and his great Attack to terrifying levels, allowing him to outspeed every Pokemon without a Choice Scarf. Common opponents to set-up Dragon Dance users are Misdreavus, Porygon, and Staryu, as they can't cripple him with status thanks to Shed Skin, and their attacks aren't powerful enough to dent him. Hi Jump Kick is the STAB move of choice, allowing him to decimate everything that tries to stand in his path. Crunch is a reliable STAB, allowing him to hit Ghost- and Psychic-types that might try to rain on his parade. Drain Punch is the main option in the last slot, letting Scraggy recover any HP he may have lost while setting up, and allowing him to clean weakened opponents. Knock Off is an option as well, allowing him to catch his counters and checks, such as Mienfoo or Croagunk, on the switch in to remove their Eviolite and proceed to KO them with a boosted Hi Jump Kick.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The EV spread is simple: Attack and Speed are maximised with the leftover EVs placed in Special Defense to prevent Misdreavus from 2HKOing him with Hidden Power Fighting. Jolly is preferred over Adamant, as the power boost is unnoticeable after a Dragon Dance, and Scraggy likes to outspeed 14 Speed Choice Scarf users such as Snover. The choice of ability is preference-based, as both are good choices. Shed Skin is preferred thanks to the pseudo-immunity to status it provides, allowing Scraggy to set up in front of Pokemon such as Will-O-Wisp Misdreavus or Thunder Wave Slowpoke. Moxie has its merits, however, helping a sweep after a KO. Scraggy appreciates Stealth Rock and Spikes, as they help him get OHKOes on some of his counters. Here are a few calculations to show Scraggy's firepower:

+1 236 Atk Scraggy Hi Jump Kick vs. 156 HP / 196+ Def Eviolite Mienfoo: 16-19 (69.56 - 82.6%) -- 50% chance to OHKO after 3 layers of Spikes

+1 236 Atk Scraggy Hi Jump Kick vs. 76 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Timburr: 19-24 (76 - 96%) -- 81.25% chance to OHKO after two layers of Spikes

+1 236 Atk Scraggy Hi Jump Kick vs. 36 HP / 20 Def Eviolite Murkrow: 22-27 (95.65 - 117.39%) -- 75% chance to OHKO

+1 236 Atk Scraggy Hi Jump Kick vs. 132 HP / 212+ Def Eviolite Hippopotas: 13-16 (52 - 64%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

As you can see, common bulky and defensive Pokemon are either OHKOed or 2HKOed. Zen Headbutt is an option over Drain Punch or Knock Off, as it allows Scraggy to defeat Croagunk, Koffing, and Grimer, as the former resists both of his STABs and the latter two are heavy on the bulky side. However, it doesn't have a lot of purpose outside of these Pokemon, as a STAB Hi Jump Kick hits harder than a super effective Zen Headbutt against everything else.

Good partners to Scraggy are Pokemon that can KO the Fighting-types that he hates; Murkrow, Drifloon, or Misdreavus all fill that role, as the former two can hit them with powerful Flying-type attacks, and the latter can burn them with Will-O-Wisp. Scraggy, in return, can also beats the special and physical walls that threaten them, such as Chinchou, Porygon or Lileep.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Hi Jump Kick
move 2: Crunch
move 3: Zen Headbutt
move 4: Head Smash / Drain Punch
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Moxie
nature: Jolly
evs: 36 HP / 236 Atk / 212 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Scraggy can be equipped with the Choice Scarf to outspeed every unboosted Pokemon in the metagame, granting him the ability to revenge kill a wide array of Pokemon. Moxie is one of this set's best tools, allowing him to clean late-game with boosted Hi Jump Kicks. Crunch is its secondary STAB, letting him revenge kill weakened opponents when Hi Jump Kick's accuracy rate is unfavorable in certain situations, and more importantly to check Ghost-types, such as Misdreavus or Gastly, which are all swiftly OHKOed after Stealth Rock. Zen Headbutt is the main option in the third slot, allowing him to KO Poison-types, especially Croagunk, while Head Smash is preferred in the fourth slot to defeat Flying-types, Larvesta, and Shelmet, which are all threats to Scraggy. Drain Punch, however, can be used for recovery, but its Base Power is undesirable.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The EV spread maximises both Attack and Speed, and the leftovers EVs are placed in HP for overall better bulk. Jolly is preferred over Adamant, as Scraggy needs all the Speed he can get, and the difference in power is unnoticeable after a Moxie boost. Shed Skin is a poor option for this set, as Scraggy prefers the power boost of Moxie and isn't bulky enough to take hits while the status is fading away. Once again, Scraggy prefers Stealth Rock and Spikes support, as they help him rack up 2HKOs and eases sweeps. The ideal partners are Pokemon that can cripple bulky Fighting- and Poison-types for Scraggy to break through them later; Nasty Plot Misdreavus and Knock Off Mienfoo are good examples.

[Other Options]

Scraggy can use a Bulk Up set with Shed Skin and Rest, although, with the dominance of Fighting-types and Murkrow that can 2HKO him even at +1, this set is outclassed by Dragon Dance. Dragon Dance and Rest can be used together; however, Scraggy would prefer to attack, and the sleep turns can be a liability if Shed Skin doesn't activate since Scraggy is 3HKOed by the majority of the tier. Life Orb is an option to OHKO Mienfoo at +1; however, Scraggy has a hard time setting up without the bulk provided by Eviolite and is more vulnerable to priority.

Intimidate is an excellent ability on almost every Pokemon that obtains it; however, it's outclassed on Scraggy thanks to the utility provided by Shed Skin or the Attack boosts provided by Moxie. A bulky attacker set with Intimidate and Fake Out / Knock off / Drain Punch / Crunch can be used if you need a check to physical Shell Smashers and most physical attackers. However, this set on Scraggy is generally outclassed by Mienfoo.

[Checks and Counters]

If one Pokemon had to be mentioned to counter Scraggy, it would be Mienfoo, which can take everything up to a Dragon Dance-boosted Life Orb Hi Jump Kick and KO Scraggy with Fake Out followed by Drain Punch; it can then just switch out to regain any HP it might have lost in the match-up. Other bulky Fighting-types are excellent checks, too: Riolu can copycat Scraggy's Hi Jump Kick and go first thanks to Prankster, while Timburr can utilize Mach Punch to its advantage. Croagunk resists both of Scraggy's STABs and can hit him with either Vacuum Wave or Drain Punch; it must be careful of Zen Headbutt though, since it's a guaranteed OHKO. Choice Scarf wielders with more than 15 Speed can hit Scraggy hard, especially Mienfoo and Murkrow, who can both OHKO him. Meanwhile, Drilbur can take a boosted Drain Punch, setup a Swords Dance, and OHKO with Earthquake if sandstorm is activated. The same goes for Sandshrew, except he can also live a boosted Hi Jump Kick. Speaking of Ground-types, Hippopotas can switch-in on Scraggy, phaze him with Whirlwind, heal off any damage with Slack Off, and repeat the process until Scraggy is weakened enough by Stealth Rock and sand damage to KO him with Earthquake. Take note that all of these Pokemon can be taken care of by using Knock Off on the switch-in, spelling doom for Scraggy's opponent, which is why it's really difficult to hard counter him. Grimer gets a special mention, though, resisting Hi Jump Kick and being immune to Knock Off thanks to Sticky Hold. However, it's 2HKOed by a boosted Crunch while it can only 3HKO back with Poison Jab or 2HKO with Gunk Shot.

Nice job with the format and such, especially if this is your first time.

I think you need a reordering of the DDance set. This:

move 1: Dragon Dance
move 2: Drain Punch / HJK
move 3: Crunch
move 4: HJK / Zen Headbutt

Fighting coverage > Dark coverage. That means, Dpunch / HJK in the second slot and Crunch in the third. Fighting is much more powerful and reliable as an offensive attack type, therefore, it is what Scraggy should be spamming most of the time.

Imo Drain Punch before HJK on the DDance set, because being able to heal yourself as well as hit for solid, reliable damage is preferred over initial power, imo. On balanced teams, Dpunched should be preferred. However, HJK is a lot more powerful, so for more offensively inclined teams, such a move should be used instead, especially because it hits hard without a boost. Make sure to explain the pros and cons of both extensively. Since it hits so hard, HJK should be put in the last slot imo, for extra power when the ability to handle poison types is not needed.

On DDance, I also think you should move Moxie to AC. Because the set has a bulky nature, Shed Skin is more beneficial, letting you solidly defeat defensive misdreavus, bulky grass types with Spore, and prankster pokemon with status moves. Also, Dragon Dance boosts your attack to such high enough levels anyway, so Moxie won't have as much use.

Move Knock Off to AC as well. Dragon Dance is a more solid way to get past walls; and Knock Off also wastes a coverage moveslot. I don't even know if it warrants a place at all on the analysis; I'll leave that to QC members.

Ignore that, hopefully iss will cover it later

I brought this up on IRC and we had a little bit of a discussion but I feel as if we should reconsider having a Scarf Scraggy set. (move it to OO.) This is because it's quite ouclassed by Mienfoo in terms of ability to revenge kill, longevity, and general offensive presence. Foo has power, speed, U-Turn, and Regenerator over Scraggy, making it a much more versatile, powerful, and hard to trap-and-kill pokemon. The only thing Scraggy has is Moxie, Crunch, some select coverage moves, and its Dark typing, which is a double edged sword, as it makes Scraggy weaker to opposing fighting types. Sark, you did bring up some valid points on irc though, and I'd like to see what some QC members (besides prem, who agrees with me) think.

Scraggy is a different style of Scarfer than Mienfoo. Scraggy is a great cleaner with Moxie allowing it to pick off the last 3 or so Pokemon on the opposing team really well. It also revenges Ghosts something which Mienfoo can't do. Yes Scarf Mienfoo is a scarfer that's a lot more useful in general (mainly due to its longetivity) but that's not to say it outclasses Scraggy, as Scraggy has a notable niche as a scarfer. Murkrow is better than Pineco but it doesn't outclass it as they do different things. Of course, that's a very exaggerated example, but you get my point.

DD set should be

move 1: Dragon Dance
move 2: Hi Jump Kick
move 3: Crunch
move 4: Drain Punch / Knock Off

Croagunk really isn't common, so stick ZHB in AC. Knock Off is incredible. Moxie should stay in the second slash, as it does have situational uses that are very important. Shed Skin is very enemy-specific, and will not always help you out in the long run. Scarf Scraggy should stay; its surprise value and raw power are solid, and getting +1/+1 for free is nice as well.

Reordered DD set, I thought Crunch would be better second as it's a high-powered STAB without any recoil/accuracy problems and is one of the two moveslots you'll never change.

Scarf Scraggy should stay imo as it has some perks over foo: revenge missy, way more bulky if it wants to switch in an attack, moxie and surprise effect. Also, cleaning.

1) Remove Adamant entirely from DD
2) Remove Ability slash and describe both Shed Skin and Moxie in AC of DD
3) Don't bash ZHB on DD. Just keep it in AC and say it hits Croagunk, Foongus, and obscure poisons.
4) Remove Adamant from Scarf and add that to AC
5) More teammates.

QC 3/2, you still get another stamp after writing before GP

It's Pokemon, not anything else.

Abilities, Moves, and names of Pokemon and types are always capitalized

"However, it's a viable choice if you need scraggy to beat these pokémon."
This sentence is repetitive in both wording and concept, i'd just remove it.

You use however when you should be using but on occasion

Was Scraggy already not 2hitkod by HP fighting? Or do the extra EVs provide that?

OO and CnC are randomly 'enter'd' and thus have spaces where a new line starts, why? There's room on the old line.

Scraggy can and does use HJK and crunch together so why HJK OR crunch?

Is it really a Stray Knock Off, especially if you're probably doing it on purpose? You make it sound like oops when it's really great strategy and while it could just be oops that's not necessarily so

Thanks, I fixed everything that I could. Also:

240 SpA Misdreavus Hidden Power Fighting vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Scraggy: 10-14 (47.61 - 66.66%) -- 99.61% chance to 2HKO
240 SpA Misdreavus Hidden Power Fighting vs. 0 HP / 36 SpD Eviolite Scraggy: 10-12 (47.61 - 57.14%) -- 12.11% chance to 2HKO

I meant that with the SpD EVs, he's not 2HKOed by HP fighting, but I reworded it so that there's no confusion anymore.

The ideal partners are Pokemon that can cripple bulky Fighting-types or Poison-types for Scraggy to break through them later:; Nasty Plot Misdreavus and Knock Off Mienfoo are good examples.
Once again,
Jolly is preferred over Adamant, (AC) as Scraggy needs all the sSpeed he can get, and the difference in power is unnoticeable after a Moxie boost.

[Other Options]

Scraggy can use a Bulk Up set with Shed Skin and Rest, although, (AC) with the dominance of Fighting-types and mMurkrow that can all 2HKO him even at +1, this set is outclassed by Dragon Dance. Dragon Dance and Rest can be used together, however, (AC) Scraggy would prefer to attack, and the sleep turns can be a liability if Shed Skin doesn't activate, since Scraggy is 3HKOed by the majority of the tier. Life Orb is an option to OHKO Mienfoo at +1,; however, (AC) Scraggy has a hard time setting up without the bulk provided by Eviolite and is more provunerable to priority.
Intimidate is an excellent ability onto almost every Pokemon that obtains it:; however, it's outclassed on Scraggy thanks to the utility provided by Shed Skin or the attack boosts provided by Moxie. A bulky attacker set with Intimidate and Fake Out / Knock off / Drain Punch / Crunch, even if outclassed by mienfoo, can still be used if you need a check to physical Shell Smashers and most physical attackers. However, (AC) this set on Scraggy is generally outclassed by Mienfoo. (The way this sentence just cuts in the middle of the statement ruins the flow of it, which is why I moved it to the end.)

[Checks and Counters]

If one Pokemon had to be mentioned to counter Scraggy, it'd be Mienfoo. The weasel, (AC) whom can take everything up to a Dragon Dance-boosted Life Orb Hi Jump Kick, (RC) and KO the lizardScraggy with Fake Out followed by Drain Punch: he; it can then just switch out to regain any HP ithe mighealth have lost in the matchup. Other bulky Fighting-types are excellent checks, too: Riolu can copycat Scraggy's Hi Jump Kick and go first, (RC) thanks to pPrankster, while Timburr can ustilize Mach Punch to its advantage. Croagunk resists both of Scraggy's STABs and can hit ithim with either Vacuum Wave or Drain Punch, but; it must be careful of Zen Headbutt, since it's a guaranteed OHKO. Choice Scarf wielders with more than 15 speed can hit itScraggy hard, especially Scarf Mienfoo and Scarf Murkrow, whicho can both OHKO him. Meanwhile, Drilbur can take a boosted Drain Punch, set up a Swords Dance, (AC) and OHKO Scraggy with eEarthquake if Sandstorm it's in sanactivated. SThe same goes for Sandshrew, except he can also live a boosted Hi Jump Kick. Speaking of gGround-types, Hippopotas can switch -in son Scraggy, phaze it with wWhirlwind, sheal off any damage with Slack oOff, and repeat the process until Scraggy is weakened enough by sStealth rRock and sand damage to KO it with eEarthquake. Take note that all of these Pokemon can be taken care off by using Knock Off on the switch-in, speaking doom for Scraggy's opponent, which is why it's really difficult to hard-counter ithim. Grimer gets a special mention, though, resisting Hi Jump Kick and being immune to Knock Off thanks to Sticky Hold. However, it's 2HKOed by a boosted Crunch, (RC) while it can only 3HKO back with Poison Jab or 2HKO with Gunk Shot.
(Good Job with the analyses! =))

Implemented, thanks! I'll make sure to not do these errors again in my next analyses.

Shouldn't Pokemon be referred to as 'it' and not 'him/her'? Just a little nitpick from the AM check

In general, yes, but it is up the writer to choose something. If a gender is chosen, then it needs to be consistent throughout. In this case, he/him is used throughout so it's fine.

Unfortunately, the lizard doesn't have only pros. He's weak to the most common type in the tier, Fighting, and is hard countered by nearly every Fighting-type in the tier, including Mienfoo, one of the most popular Pokemon in LC

Common opponents to set-up Dragon Dance users are Misdreavus, Porygon, (AC) and Staryu,

Shed Skin is preferred thanks to the pseudo-immunity to status it provides, allowing Scraggy to set up in front of Pokemon such as Will-O-Wisp Misdreavus or Thunder Wave Slowpoke. Moxie has its merits, however, easening helping a sweep after a KO. Scraggy appreciates Stealth Rock and Spikes, as they help him get OHKOs on some of his counters. Here are a few calculations to show Scraggy's firepower:

Croagunk, Koffing, (AC) and Grimer,
Murkrow, Drifloon, (AC) or Misdreavus

why it's really difficult to hard counter him

as they help him rack up 2HKOs

If one Pokemon had to be mentioned to counter Scraggy, it would be Mienfoo, which can take everything up to a Dragon Dance-boosted

The EV spread is simple: maximum EV investment are placed in both the Speed and Attack stat. The leftover EVs are Attack and Speed are maximized with the leftover EVs placed in Special Defense to prevent Misdreavus from 2HKOing him with Hidden Power Fighting.

Scraggy, in return, can also beat the special and physical walls that threaten them such as Chinchou, Porygon or Lileep. Jolly is preferred over Adamant, as the power boost is unnoticeable after a Dragon Dance, and Scraggy likes to outspeed 14 Speed Choice Scarfers such as Snover.

[SET COMMENTS]

Scraggy can also be equipped with the Choice Scarf to outspeed every unboosted Pokemon in the metagame, granting him to access the ability to revenge kill a wide array of Pokemon. Moxie is one of this set's best tools, allowing him to clean late-game with boosted Hi Jump Kicks. Crunch is its secondary STAB, letting him to revenge kill weakened opponents when Hi Jump Kick's accuracy rate is unfavorable in certain situations, and more importantly to check Ghost-types, such as Misdreavus or Gastly, which are all swiftly OHKOed after Stealth Rock.

The EV spread is self-explanatory: maximizes both Attack and Speed are maximized, and the leftovers EVs are placed in HP for overall better bulk. Jolly is preferred over Adamant, as Scraggy needs all the Speed he can get, and the difference in power is unnoticeable after a Moxie boost.
