Hey, guys! I've seen the resounding success of many OMs here on the forums. I am hoping to have another successful OM created - Mergemons.

The concept for this metagame is simple. It is similar to regular OU. All stats are the same, all types are the same, all abilities are the same, and all movepools are the same – except for one difference. All fully evolved Pokémon are paired up with another Pokémon. These two Pokémon can now use any move combination from not just their movepool, but their partner’s movepool as well. This means if Azumarill, to give an example, was paired up with Alakazam, Azumarill can now use not just any move it can possibly learn, but any move Alakazam can possibly learn as well.

Plus, any formerly illegal Generation 5 move combo is now legal. This means Spikes+Sleep Powder Roserade or even Belly Drum+Aqua Jet Azumarill! However, this doesn't mean the Gen 2 event moves like Lovely Kiss Snorlax.

The list of Pokemon pairings will be shown below.

Where can you play this metagame? Simple. You can play it anywhere on Showdown with the Custom Game option. I usually hang out on Joim's Lab to play it, however.

So try it out! Get out there! And remember: Merge is better!

When i was looking over the swaps i saw something horrible, wigglytuff/ wobbuffet
Now, wob gets perish song and softboiled, definately op.

Also the best shell smashers are magmortar, golurk, houdoom, and octillery, they already have decent coverage.
Also transform dodrio and sketch slowking look fun.
(unown gets close combat-op)

Right off the bat, this is what I see as massive threats:

Spore Ambipom
Close Combat Haxorus
Quiver Dance Venusaur
Nasty Plot Raikou (who now gets Ice Beam, Flamethrower and Aura Sphere for coverage)
Calm Mind Kyurem
Hurricane Zapdos
Wish Wobbufett

Lesser, but still prominent threats:

Volcarona now gets Water and Ice coverage without using up its Hidden Power
Typhlosion has a massive special movepool, with access to Thunderbolt, Earth Power and Ice Beam.
Ninetales can threaten every opposing weather setter with a set of Nasty Plot / Fire Blast / Focus Blast / Thunder(bolt)
Seed Flare Heatran
Rapid Spin / Stealth Rock Froslass
Dragon Dance Scolipede

There's probably many others, but I have to say this meta looks really interesting to play.

AWailOfATail

viva la darmz
Haxorus now gets Fake Out. Not that scary, but it still breaks the sash.

Also, Weavile gets Explosion (should be funny) and Volcarona learns Water Spout. This will be fun.

Monte Cristo

Banned deucer.
The funny thing about slowking only gets sketch once is that, it can literally just learn sketch, sketch a move, and heart scale back sketch So basically, it gets infinite sketches, have fun! also this looks awesome sims, great job

Vileplume gets Tail Glow+Baton Pass+Thunder Wave+Encore and Chlorophyll.

Slowking gets Cotton Guard lol or Regenerator Wish passing.

Donphan gets Roost, Dragon Tail, Thunder Wave and more! Dragonite gets Rapid Spin!

I want to play this, I'll edit this post when I come up with my team.

Torkoal/Torterra

Shell Smash Torterra or Rapid Spin Torterra. Let's fucking go. Also, screens Torkoal is cool (if it doesn't get those already.)

EDIT

Cofagrigus/Conkeldurr

Also OTR Conkeldurr could be really fucking scary.

Some things I found:
Close Conbat Sawsbuck
Psystrike, Aura Sphere, and Ice Beam moltres
FREAKING EXTREMESPEED VICTINI
Hurricane Thundrus T
Rapid Spin Cinccino
Leech Seed Shuckle
Spikes Quagsire, Ryhperior, Uxie, and Aerodactyl
Trick Room + Explosion Snorlax
Extremespeed Rampardos
Stealth Rock Jelicent
Substitute + Protect + Shadow Force Regigas

ok looking at this, the things that GREATLY benefit mons are:
Bronzong has Sleep Powder, Dusknoir has Moonlight, Ferrothorn has Wish, Golurk with Shell Smash, Magmortar has Shell Smash, Mienshao has Sucker Punch

I said that Slowking gets it like Necturna: only once.

Wrong. The rule of "only gets Sketch once" can be applied to mean that instead of simply adding Sketch to Slowking's level up moves (since Smeargle does that), it is added as an egg move, using the same logic as Necturna and all of Sketchmons.

You are aware how necturna works right? and sketchmons? In sketchmons every pokemon gets sketch in every single way except learnset, so it is fully legal with move legalties
Anyway Necturna gets sketch through EGG MOVE, which allows it only once. WHen in this it clearly says in the OP: "Plus, any formerly illegal move combo is now legal. This means Spikes+Sleep Powder Roserade or even Belly Drum+Aqua Jet Azumarill!"

In order to legalize any move illegaleties, these moves would all have to be from gen 5 level up

I swear, people don't understand sketch mechanics, you can't just say "It works liek necturna" while saying "it learns it through level up so no move illeagleties"

Then we add an exception for Sketch Slowking. It's basically just a complex ban - more than one Sketch move on Slowking can be banned.

And how do you suppose we do that? Banning Sketch + Sketch will not work as the game recognizes it as the move you sektched, not sketch, so for instance if sketch was banned from RU, you would have to ban smearle, as smeargle is using every move he obtained through sketch, he's technically not using sketch

If you want to have a complex ban, you'll have to make a script that bans a pokemon from recycling sketch with a heart scale, you can't just ban multisketching as a whole, it doesn't work like that

Oi, the only egg move in Mergemons is Slowking's Sketch. Quick and simple.

Knight of Cydonia

I COULD BE BANNED!

Thundurus-Therian (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Thunder
- Hurricane
- Focus Blast
- Agility

Under rain, this has probably one of the most deadly STAB combinations available, the same as it has in STABmons in fact. I can see this demolishing offensive teams and even breaking walls thanks to immense power and coverage. Rain support is obviously mandatory for Thunder and Hurricane.

Toxicroak @ Leftovers
Trait: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Drain Punch / Focus Punch
- Toxic

Another set that should be used with rain, I think something like this could be incredibly annoying to deal with thanks to mad health recovery every turn. Might not be the optimum set but I feel Leech Seed could definitely cause some rage quits.

I think this set would be pretty funny.

Flareon @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Guts
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly/Adamant
- Flame Charge
- Facade
- Power Whip
- Explosion

Wow still no mention of Kyurem Black getting Close Combat, Work Up, Hydro Pump, Aqua Jet, Scald and Taunt. Steel Types be warned.

Venusaur can run Weather Ball with Chlorophyll? o_O and picks up Quiver Dance, Baton Pass and Toxic Spikes from Venomoth
Coil Durant>Hone Claws Durant

But oh when I tried to theorymon an entire team, the fact that Wish+Protect+Perish Song+Heal Bell Wobb exists kind of makes almost everything else irrelevant besides super duper hyper offense and VoltTurn.

SupportChomp?

Garchomp @ Leftovers
Trait: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 180 Def / 60 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Drain Punch
- Spikes / Stealth Rock / Toxic Spikes
- Dragon Tail
- Rock Blast

You said that its similar to regular OU, but in your pairing list, you had ubers, would all ubers be brought down or only some?
I can see kingler becoming more relevant in this OM, because it gets waterfall with sheer force.
Also was there any specific way that you paired these mons?
