Steelix @ Life Orb
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Iron Tail / Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide / Fire Fang / Crunch

Although Steelix is usually used as a physically bulky support Pokemon, between its access to Sheer Force, several moves that get a benefit from the ability, including some decently powerful STAB moves, and a decent Attack stat, Steelix might just have potential as an offensive tank, switching in on various threats such as Cinccino and Inflicting as much pain as possible. Because of Steelix's naturally massive physical bulk, even without a significant amount of defensive investment it can take quite a few hits and serve as a decent check to many physical attackers such as Cinccino, Escavalier, Aggron, and Druddigon, so a lack of bulk usually shouldn't be a huge problem. Anyways, on to the set itself, its pretty straightforward overall. Stealth Rock is still used on Steelix simply because of how great of a utility move it is, although a fourth offensive move could possibly be used if you feel offensive Steelix needs it. Both Iron Tail and Iron Head get the Sheer Force boost, which makes both of them pretty powerful for something thats only coming off of a base 85 Attack stat. The move choice is basically personal preference Iron Tail inflicts as much pain as possible to the opponent, even threatening to 2HKO quite physically bulky opponents such as Musharna after Stealth Rock, although its inaccurate. Iron Head never misses, but has a slightly lower base power than Iron Tail. Although Earthquake doesn't get the Sheer Force boost, its still used as a powerful, consistent Ground-type STAB that pairs decently well with Steelix's Steel-type STAB. The last moveslot is once again up to personal preference, Rock Slide provides decent neutral coverage overall with Earthquake and Steelix's Steel-type move, hitting Rotom-N, Rotom-C, and Moltres specifically hard, while Fire Fang gets a strong hit on Ferroseed, while OHKOing Durant and Escavalier reliably. Crunch is useful against Slowking and other bulky Psychic-types such as Uxie and Mesprit.

I just knew someone would post this set lol. Would you include crunch in one of the slashes as a better way to hit psychics and ghosts like golurk and missy harder? (Not posting any sets)

Steelix @ Custap Berry
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Naive Nature
- Explosion
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Heavy Slam

Yeah Steelix has a limited move pool, so its p much the standard set, this or possibly automize (hint hint). This set aims to set up rocks and explode, creating instant momentum for your team, allowing for a heavy hitter to get in for free. Naive nature is chosen so it is easier to get sturdy to activate from high HP, while preserving its useful defense, allowing it to wall physical threats in emergency situations (if you kept it). The 252+ speed will allow you to outspeed and surprise the plethora of things that aim for min speed Lanturn (min Lanturn is 170, this hits 174), but Naughty nature could be used if you want to explode harder (lol).

Steelix@Chesto Berry
Trait: Rock Head
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
IVs 0 Spe
Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Curse
- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake
- Rest

Steelix has an enormous physical defense, a good type immunity and poor speed. A very physical wall, perhaps the best in RU. Well, this set tries to take advantage from its natural weaknesses. The best scenario for it is in a Trick Room. While combo Rest/Chesto Berry is to keep Steelix alive as long as possible, GyroBall and Earthquake are standard choices, even more effective after Curse. After boosting Def and expecially Atk (without forgetting the "gain" from smaller Spd) Steelix becomes really dangerous for the opposing team.

Some calculation:

+1 252+ Atk Steelix Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Druddigon: 220-259 (61.45 - 72.34%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Reserving specs Steelix.

Steelix @ Choice Specs
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Flash Cannon
- Earth Power
- Dragon Pulse
- Dark Pulse

This Steelix is amazing, but enough of this long description, let's look at some calcs:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Sheer Force Steelix Earth Power vs. 156 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Magneton: 652-772 (232.85 - 275.71%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Pfft. Steel Killer my ass.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Sheer Force Steelix Earth Power vs. 116 HP / 0 SpD Aggron: 1108-1308 (357.41 - 421.93%) -- guaranteed OHKO
We all know how strong defensive Aggron is, but this bypasses it!

252+ SpA Choice Specs Sheer Force Steelix Dark Pulse vs. 248 HP / 116+ SpD Slowking: 164-194 (41.73 - 49.36%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Spikes
And that was with ONE LAYER! :D

252+ SpA Choice Specs Steelix Dragon Pulse vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Altaria: 180-212 (61.85 - 72.85%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
And Altaria is a special tank! :O

252+ SpA Choice Specs Sheer Force Steelix Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Alomomola: 339-400 (63.48 - 74.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Your days of wishing Alomomola would stop wish-passing are over with one easy and simple set!

252+ SpA Choice Specs Sheer Force Steelix Flash Cannon vs. 248 HP / 92+ SpD Cryogonal: 216-254 (62.97 - 74.05%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Pfft, who can spin on dis shit?

252+ SpA Choice Specs Sheer Force Steelix Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Sandslash: 294-346 (83.05 - 97.74%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and Spikes
Again, only one layer! The RU ladder's favourite spinner should be put to shame!

252+ SpA Choice Specs Sheer Force Steelix Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Poliwrath: 199-235 (51.82 - 61.19%) -- 95.31% chance to 2HKO
And his attacks are negative priority! Such an easy kill for our favourite giant steel snake thingy!

Well there you go! Clearly Specs Steelix is a monster. Ok maybe amoonguss and Tangrowth wall it, but you have a bunch of other pokemon for that! Steelix can handle the rest!

Steelix @ Choice Band
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Brave Nature
- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Crunch / Fire Fang

Steelix has plenty of switch-in opportunities due to its ludicrous defense, but this Steelix tries to pretty hard despite its average attack stat, while a Choice Band makes sure it never takes any recoil damage. Over Rhydon, the fact that it is a Steel-type is a huge immediate advantage, allowing it to (generally) perform a bit better defensively. The power it packs is also a lot more unexpected than Rhydon's, allowing it to obtain way more surprise kills. Gyro Ball pretty much annihilates faster threats that it can hit for full power, managing 2HKOs on Pokemon such as Durant and Scarf Emboar, ensuring most fast threats are pretty much dead. It also hits harder than a Sheer Force Iron Tail/Head against these foes while also being more accurate than the former. Earthquake hits pretty hard, 2HKOing most non-resists. Steel-Ground also provides surprisingly decent coverage, hitting move Pokemon for neutral damage. Rock Slide is literally only for Moltres, and I guess Ludicolo or something gets hit pretty hard by it too. Crunch is because of Misdreavus, Rotom, and to an extent Slowking (Earthquake still hurts) to hit them hard, and Fire Fang hits Ferroseed, Rotom-C, and Escavalier hard, but really, the STABs take care of most of the work.

you can throw sub/toxic on pretty much any mon i guess but steelix is bulky. eq > gyro because pp, roar or protect for whatever you know how this set works im sure. i wanted to post BOOM steelix but atomicllamas is a loser and posted it already.

edot: cherub told me to say that it beats poisons and steels with eq because they are immune to toxic

EVs: 124 Spd / 132 Def / 252 HP
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Taunt
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock

This is a lesser seen set, but is a Toxic Taunt set that hurts more defensive Pokemon, most notably Crustle. Speed EVs are made to outspeed hazard Crustle and shut it down with Taunt. EQ is the most reliable STAB it has and since I'm running speed creep Gyro Ball is pointless. Toxic is very important on this set in order to catch Pokemon like Tangrowth on the switch and render them ineffective. Stealth Rock is used as filler and to be a reliable setter, seeing as this EV spread allows Steelix to survive some incredible stuff, like Close Combat coming from Gallade. The EVs can be further adjusted to speed creep Tangrowth, but that requires 164 Spe EVs, which takes away from Steelix's magnificent defense stat.

Alright guys, you have 7 sets to vote for! I trust that the RU community is sensible enough and has sound enough judgment to pick what they think is the best set, so for this round, all entries are legal

Voting begins!

Even the one that is 'infracted' is votable? Wut.
I'm pretty sure I'll go for Molk.
Dcae's taunt set is legit but offensive steelix stronk
