What's interesting is how high, in my opinion, the average stats of OU are.

Nice numbers.

They may not be helpful what competitive play is concerned but they are interesting indeed.

Interesting, the OU pokemon average total stats is exactly 525, like the Eevolutions, and very close to the starters total, too.

Not really surprising. 500 has always been a good cutoff point for usable or not, though certain < 500 Pokemon with phenomenal stat placement (Heracross) still make the cut.

Let's not forget Medicham.

I love stats like these. Thanks.

I find it interesting that the average of the Attack stats is higher than that of the Defense stats in every case. That just goes to show how much offensively oriented D/P really is.

Yeah, about 85 base has always been considered average for most purposes.
Maybe we need to change that mentality now, at least for the Attack stat, seeing as the average attack stat in OU is 95.

EDIT: I edited the original post with the average stats for UU/NU, and the average stats of NFEs.

Average Stats of all OU and BL Pokemon (using current tier list):

HP: 85
Atk: 95
Def: 90
SpAtk: 86
SpDef: 88
Speed: 81
If you round, every number that doesn't end up with 5 or 0 at the end, then you realize that calling 80 Speed Pokemon "Slow" is kindof more on the average side, and 85-90 Special Attack is pretty much a minimum to stats. Interesting thread.

Though the OU/BL averages seem almost pointless considering all the the Cresselias and Blisseys running around, but interesting numbers nonetheless.

Interestingly, SpD beats SpA by a few points. Mabye phisically, DP is offensive, but the special metagame is defensive

What interests me is the fact that whereas physical attack is always higher than defense, excluding ubers special attack is always lower than special defense..

Weird!

Have a nice day.

Yeah, and with the introduction of new physical moves with high base power (Close Combat, Stone Edge, Brave Bird, Flare Blitz, etc.), and a lack of a Blissey-like, physically-resistant Pokemon, the physical side is much easier to break through.

Consider that we are factoring in large attackers like Slaking and Garchomp n stuff. The lowest Attack in OU is Blissey. Also, would we use a Pokemon with those base stats?

That is exactly the point. People prefer using high attack Pokemon like Garchomp and stuff. Why? Surely because 95 attack versus 85 HP/90 Def is a better approach than 86 SpAtk versus 85 HP/88 SpDef.

Average Stats of all not fully evolved Pokemon (NFEs):

HP: 53
Atk: 56
Def: 54
SpAtk: 52
SpDef: 52
Speed: 52
Base Stats of Farfetch'd:

HP: 52
Atk: 65
Def: 55
SA: 58
SD: 62
Speed: 60

Conclusion: Farfetch'd is too Uber for the NFE Metagame!

In all seriousness, this is a useful list. What was the effect on the numbers of outliers like Blissey? Does anything significant change when you don't factor in Blissey's 255 HP and 10 Atk/Def in those respective averages?

Farfetch'd is not an NFE, so maybe that's why it's too uber for that metagame, lol.

Without's Blissey's stats, the average stats in OU would be:

HP: 83 (85)
Atk: 96 (95)
Def: 91 (90)
SpAtk: 86 (86)
SpDef: 87 (88)
Speed: 81 (81)

Average stats with Blissey in brackets.

That's really interesting, those figures are a little surprising to me.
I'd like two more figures, though >_>

Average stats for OU/BL "sweepers"
Average stats for OU/BL "walls" (with and without Blissey, because that's pretty lol.)
