A level 14 or higher Dustox can easily sweep Brawly.

Mudkip is definately the best starter.

I just started this, and Gulpin actually does okay. But always carry a ground type or you're screwed against that electric gym.

X attacks really help against Wattson if you picked Treeko and don't have Makuhita. Definitely get an electric type of some sort, they are super useful. Don't use psychics, they are significantly worse. Don't use a flying type that's not mence or Altaria past the 5th gym, get a slave. Dustox is awesome.

You need an Aron or else something will die to Wattson's Voltorb.

Should you be lucky enough to catch one, Nincada's evo can troll Wattson so hard. Keep in mind Voltorb does have Rollout, but other than that he can't touch Sheddy.
