This set uses Blastoise's excellent bulk, great support movepool and usable Special Attack to the limit. Scald is an amazing move, and is a staple on all Bulky Waters, especially Blastoise, whose Defence is lower than its Special Defence. Rapid Spin is why Blastoise has maintained its UU Bulky Water status, clearing entry hazards for teammates who would otherwise be potentially crippled. The next two slots are for patching up gaps in a team. Ice Beam keeps Grass-Types at bay, mainly Tangrwoth, Haze stops Shell Smash Gorebyss and Carracosta in their tracks, Toxic is a Bulky Water classic and Yawn can force switches if Blastoise is in a nasty position.
Dragon Tail serves a similar role to Haze, except it switches, deals damage and isn't disabled by taunt. Aqua Jet can tear up a weakened, frail or sissy Pokemon, and can turn Blastoise into a temporary revenge killer. Fake Out messes up opponents whenever Blastoise switches in and breaks Focus Sashes. Foresight gets excellent synergy with Rapid Spin, giving Blastoise the ability to clear away entry hazards whenever it likes. Finally, Protect can stall for Toxic damage, sleep a Yawned opponent, or just scout for moves. Mix and match and voila, the perfect Bulky Water.
