Got super otaku crazy when gold/silver came out, still my favorite generation
After ruby/sapphire slowly started getting out of pokemon.
Leaf Green/Fire Red Hooked me in.
Hated 4th gen until a friend told me about the competitive scene, got hooked and tried to get into the action.
Hg/Ss Remakes made me an otaku for pokemon again, just finished the game, now trying to make a team for 2nd generation so i came back to smogon and found this group :D

So far I've played every generation to date lol.
Gold and Silver really hooked me in, then it started to fade after ruby and sapphire but got back into it after I realized I could play my friends with Wifi.
I'm entirely new to competitive battling, so any help would be appreciated xD.
Currently I'm trying to make a team on Heartgold to play my friends.

I got into pokemon shortly after emerald came out. I instantly fell in love and have been a devoted player ever since. However, until recently I have never tried my hand at competative battleing, and I sucked at first. I am still not good, and constantly find myself getting beaten out. I have, since joining a few days ago, learned alot, but I feel very lost. I don't know many of the terms used, and I really just want to learn. But ya, I think Smogon is good so far, but is lacking in helping noobs, that is why I joined :)

Pokemon Crystal for the GBA was my first game, then I have played every game since and went back and played Ruby.

I did not start battling others until about 4 months ago and so far I have only battled on GBU, no PO or Wi-fi FC battles. I think I will wait a while until I start battling on the PO, but I would not mind some Wi-Fi battles.

The thing is I am amrried and have 2 kids, which is wonderful. But my daughter was recently diagnosed with Asbergers, which is different for a each person, but a lot of times results in an extreme tendancy to key in on one pursuit and to turn inward spending all you time on that pursuit. My daughters therapist told us that usually one or both parents often show signs aspergers when a child does. I am definitely the aspergers parent. It almost kills me to make eye contact. I have trouble with social inappropriateness (and being long winded). To make a long sotry short, I want to keep pokemon from being too much of an obsession, but at some point I would liek to try out battling on the PO or Wi-Fi. I just don't want to spend ours every night doing it.

I hope this gorup gets some life back into it. It seems like a good place to share and connect.

Got Emerald when I was 6, did the standard Sceptile @ lv 75, everyone else at 40, realized how masterful the game is deep down, joined Smogon, having a tough time getting started.

Got a ds when i was seven with pokemon as a free game. i've been hooked ever since and i can't explain why. So anyways i found smogon one day while i was on the internet and i joined and learned the metagame (mostly vgc though).
