We will set criteria to judge the Pokemon in Pokemon Conquest as follows:

1) Availability (how early, how easy to get)
2) Linking capabilities (can it get to a high link with a warrior early on)
3) Battle Strength (how it is in battle, based on strength, evolution, and abilities)

Therefore, good pokemon for an in-game (non competitive) tier listing are:

1) Available as soon as the game begins
2) Can get to 100% link with the warrior they are paired with in the beginning AND/OR can be caught very early in game and are can be immediately paired with their best warrior
3) Extremely powerful moves with type advantage in major battles, evolves quickly, and has an amazing ability


Distinctions will have to be made between warriors and Pokemon.
For example, if you can get the warrior that Best Links with the pokemon early, but the pokemon itself can only be captured late, that should be mentioned.


So let's start a discussion for this list!!

TIERS:

High Tier:


Eevee
Eevee is available at the very beginning of the story, and comes paired immediately with it's best link warrior.
It is always getting trained, of course, and can provide type advantages over any warlords you have trouble with.

Jigglypuff
In the same boat as Eevee, too bad about the type effectiveness. Lullaby is great in a pinch.

Medium Tier:

Low Tier:

I wouldn't put Jiggly in high tier. Weak attack, pretty frail, and it gets destroyed by Jagged Edge. I linked Oichi with Gible and haven't used Joggly since. Lullaby is awesome though.

I think Gyara and Staraptor are mandatory in high tier. Besides them, I want to bring up Excadrill. It's typing is brilliant and Drilbur goes pretty fast if you can get a Warrior who has a high link with it.

Hmm, well I can't really say too much, but I have been playing a lot recently and here's a few thoughts on pokemon I've run into so far.

Lilligant: This thing is just a monster. Yes Petal Dance has a rather annoying side effect of rooting you in place for the next turn, but the sheer power will obliterate anything that doesn't resist grass. And it hits twice. The warrior who has a perfect link and the pokemon itself are both relatively easy to get, at least in my experience.

Chandelure: A giant pain to get Litwick up into a Lampent, but Litwick is really easy to find, and this thing kicks butt with Fire Spin. The best link warriors are fairly easy to find as well.

Gyarados: Again, really annoying to get Magikarp to evolve into one of these, but this thing is powerful, and since it's a flying type, it can fly over obstacles. Very very good.

Kadabra: Can't speak too much on it, although I got one for Gracia since Munna is...not that great. So far, is working quite well.

Musharna: Quite an anomaly as far as pokemon goes. It's powerful, but needs something to fall asleep to do anything. If you pair it with one or two Munna however, it does very well with a strong psychic attack that heals it while the opponent does nothing. That said, at times it's just more efficient to stick two attacking pokemon and call it a day.

Staraptor: Holy cow this thing is strong. Starly is pretty weak, but usable, Staravia is quite powerful and probably more well rounded than this is but wow, Brave Bird turns this thing into the ultimate glass cannon. Use with caution.

Rufflet: A unevolved mon yes, but it's probably the strongest LC pokemon (short of things like Sneasel and Scyther) in the game, able to do quite a bit of damage with no real drawback. I haven't had the chance to use Braviary though.

Sneasel: Pretty good, but I have a Razor Claw and have yet to evolve one. It has a really annoying speed requirement to actually evolve. Even worse, it's a swarm only pokemon. Thankfully, one of the perfect links happens to be a Warlord (eh, secondary warlord anyway).

Spiritomb: Even at low levels this Pokemon is quite strong, able to both take a beating and dish one out, all while having zero weaknesses. Really solid even if the only guys you have using it have like 34% max link -_-.

That's probably all for now. I'm not sure what tiers these all go in, but most of them are probably Middle Tier.

Braviary is bad. The two-turn skydrop is quite a downside to it's great stats.

Yeah and Maxim a lot of those are not really feasible for the main storyline playthrough since they come so late. Mid-high at max likely.

Well, seeing as how short the main storyline actually is in comparison to the whole thing...I think that these should just be in general.

Just posting to revitalize and say that Forretress is atrocious, all thanks to Gyro Ball. If you have a low link, Gyro Ball has great power but his stats are low. If you have a high link, he may have good Attack and excellent Defense but way too much Speed!

And seeing that the slower you are, the lower your accuracy is... it's awful. Yoshimoto had the hardest story due to that fact alone.
