Too many times do I see people editing in "Critical Hit" or "U-Turn" or "EVd". There is nothing more annoying than people who rabidly edit text to gain merit or for self glorification. One last thing I think that should be mentioned somewhere is to keep edits as close to non-subjective as possible. There's a difference between fixing awkward wording and saying "I think you should say 'great' instead of 'fantastic' here". Just some thoughts because grammar edits have become very popular lately.

I somewhat agree, but I also somewhat do not. Yes ideally the "'great' vs 'fantastic'" example should never occur, but unfortunately, English in itself is a very subjective language, and there is a very fine line between making a change because something is grammatically
inferior, and making a change because something is grammatically
wrong.
I will admit that when I participate in peer-editing I find myself doing things like re-wording entire paragraphs, but as I said, it is hard not to, because when something looks wrong, it just looks wrong, and it is hard to really etch out whether it
needs to be changed.
I definitely agree with all your other points however, and I also see the same issues with people making "corrections" that are clearly incorrect, and in some cases, it becomes obvious they have not ever stepped foot inside the "Standards for Grammar..." Thread.
