Finally got around to revising my GBU Singles team. I replaced Bisharp with specially defensive Tyranitar, and am now using an offensive TR Reuniclus instead of a bulky CM set.

I've been using this team in GBU Free mode for a little bit, and I'm getting about a 60-65% win percentage (not counting ragequits.) This weekend, I hope to try my footing in Rated matchup. I'll update later about any success there.

What I like about my new lineup is that I can run several different strategies. Scizor and Rotom-W form an excellent VoltTurn duo. Reuniclus and Tyranitar are both terrifying to face under Trick Room, not to mention Scizor. In a pinch, Scizor can tank physical hits and form a defensive core with Tyranitar. I'm honestly considering going full-out Trick Room and replacing Froslass with Ferrothorn, but I'm not sure I'm quite willing to give up the former's utility.

What sorts of things defeat you?

RestCM Suicune has always been a problem. Thundurus is dangerous if Trick Room isn't up, especially if it carries Hammer Arm. Strong dragons (and hard-hitting physical attackers in general) are difficult to deal with, especially if they have EQ or Fire-type moves. Volcarona can cause problems for everyone on my team, as they usually carry Giga Drain.

I was thinking about using Chandelure again, but HP Ice can't reliably OHKO uninvested DW Dragonite even with specs. I'd like to use Ferrothorn, but I don't want to add another 4x Fire weakness, and I can't remove Scizor without completely overhauling the team. I'm thinking about using Haxorus, as it can threaten Volcarona and Dragonite thanks to Mold Breaker, but it has problems switching in or taking priority, and can't outspeed Thundurus or Garchomp without using Choice Scarf.

EDIT: Using Haxorus right now, as Froslass simply wasn't pulling its own weight.

Not a full team rate request this time. I'm planning to build a team for a wifi tournament, that is something like flatbattle UU. Since I expect a high usage of cune, I want a dedicated counter to it -and I'm drawn to Roserade to fulfill that role, simply because it will kick most cune's sets ass.
My problem is, that I'm pretty unsure with my EV spread atm.

Btw, both spreads have a modest nature and will use 252 SpA Gem+Leafstorm to ensure a clean OHKO on +1 SpD max HP Cune. Easing the spread problem via nature (timid) or item (sash) will completely ruin the ability to score this OHKO, so I most likely won't change them.
Moves are probably Leafstorm | Sludge Bomb | Sleep Powder | filler

First idea:
28 HP | 252 SpA | 228 Spd

Pro
- able to outspeed and KO up to 252 Spd Cune, including most defensive variants

Cons
- can't survive a +1 Icebeam from any Cune set, so I'm always forced to outspeed and KO first.
- unable to handle/outspeed offensive 252+ Cunes

the alternative:
112 HP | 252 SpA | 84 SpD | 60 Spd

Pro
- survives +1 Icebeams from modest/timid 252 SpA Cune at +1 that lack LO, lefties are a common choice as well, so this might be fine
- outspeeds defensive cune, max Speed Omastar and everything that is spreaded to outspeed 0 Spd Roserade (might be relevant for some Cune and Rotom spreads)

Con
- no chance to outspeed sets with maximum speed invest.
- surviving +1 LO Icebeams requires heavy invest into HP and SpD, which this Set can't provide without losing the ability to score the OHKO, so offensive LO Sets are troublesome

What do you think ? Which spread would be the superior option ?

If your opponent decides to switch out, you've just used up your grass gem and are now locked onto Leaf Storm, leaving your opponent free to set up or take out the helpless Roserade.

I'm going to suggest a set I faced on GBU a little while ago.

The idea behind this set is to repeatedly Sub down to 1/4 HP to activate Overgrow, then spam Leaf Storm. The advantage of this set over Roserade is that you don't have to predict in order to be successful. Sceptile is blindingly fast - only outsped by 5 pokes between UU and RU, and an Overgrow Sceptile hits much harder than Roserade.

If your opponent switches instead of attacking, you have a Sub up and can get in a free attack before switching out. Sweepers that try to set up can be forced out by Leech Seed. With Focus miss, the set has excellent coverage. With the combination of Overgrow and a Grass Gem (that's the equivalent of a +2 attack) you can seriously dent things that resist Grass.

Here are some damage calculations to show off the raw power of this set:

Thank you for the idea, I fooled around with Sceptile myself, but tbh I really prefer Roserade for one plain and simple reason :
- If an offensive Cune Set that predicts the Grasstype switch right and Icebeams proactively, Sceptile is most likely gone, while Roserade isn't.

Obviously Sceptile takes a much higher risk switching into Cune, if you don't know the set. And I expect offensive CM > defensive CM in flat battles concerning terms of usage. The set should be able to switch into Cune without or at least minimal risk, which is something Sceptile can't guarentee.
At least this brings me to the idea, that my speedier, less bulky split, will be the better fit, since both will fall to 2 consecutive icebeams, but the faster 'rade is able to outspeed most Cunes.

Sure it requires a bit of prediction, not to throw away the Gem for nothing, but 1) this is true for any set with gem 2) if Cune CMed on the switch, it is very unlikely, that he switches out, and if he didn't, I have in Sleep Powder a wonderful option to deal with either the switch or cripple Cune. And sleeptalking is practically no option - since to risky - vs. Roserade.

On the other hand, Sceptile only really fails vs. icebeam from 252 SpA modest Cune@LO, which isn't something I expect a lot, so this Sceptile is at least an option. Why not a SD+Leafblade set instead ? It might run Earthquake|Acrobatics for additional coverage, which is good I assume and doesn't care about CM boosts - or SpA Drops - respectively. Thanks to Acrobatics it can even benefit from a early loss of its gem to some extent.

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of Sceptile, thank you :) I think I will try both and see, which one performs better.
