I figured the best place to start my Street Fighter career would be the friendly Smogon forums because the Shoryuken forums are intimidating as hell. I've never really played a street fighter game besides street fighter 2 many many years ago, and I recently just bought Super Street Fighter 4. I've been playing, and so far it's been fun. Online I've gone 14 wins, 17 losses in ranked battles using Abel/Ryu.

What would be really helpful is having someone to spar with who actually knows about chains/links/combos/whatever the hell FADC is and its applications in battle/the wakeup game/juggling/all that jazz. I've played games like Soul Caliber and Smash Bros casually, so I'm not totally new to fighting games. If someone is willing to teach or just play casually so we can learn off of each other that'd be great.

I'm very new to the SF scene, as well. Although, living in Northern California has a lot of advantages as far as fighting games go, considering we have a ton of the best players for many popular fighters including SSF4, Tekken 6 BR, and Smash Brothers Melee (our Brawl scene is pretty weak, though). I'm still hesitant to join any scene, though, in which I have very little practice in (which is why I rarely show my face on Shoddy).

If anyone is in or around the San Francisco bay area and would like to play some SSF4 and/or the other games I mentioned above, I'm so totally down. PM me. I play Seth, so you guys can have a field day kicking the crap out of me while I try to learn this game.
