Nobody's said anything yet, so I guess I'll start things off.

I don't watch too much anime, so I haven't seen any of the "good" stuff that most people recommend, but I do love Chobits (both subbed and dubbed) and Bleach (only seen the dub on Adult Swim), as well as pretty much all of Hayao Miyazaki's stuff.

As for manga, my favorite by far is Mahou Sensei Negima (Negima! Magister Negi Magi in the states). I've even gone so far as to buy a bunch of random Japanese collectibles and the new series, Negima!? Neo. I even have some of the anime DVDs of Negima!, although the anime isn't as good as the manga. :(

Some other manga series I like a lot are Mushishi, Hellsing, and Gintama; as you can see, my tastes are all over the place.

I prefer reading mangas, always. My favourites are Vinland Saga (great manga about vikings, good realistic drawing style, great action, one of the best mangas around), Vagabond (another epic story, about famous samurai Miyamoto Musashi), Berserk (it's something, that you MUST know, classic of dark fantasy), Shin Angyo Onshi (Korean manhwa), my favourite fantasy-like story overall) and something more comedy-harem-ecchi like Ai Kora ;). One of the funniest series that I ever read. Anyway, I read all kind of mangas from shounens to dark seinens and comedies. PM me if you look for something to read ;).

About Bleach - It may be harsh for some of you, but it's probably the most overrrated sh**t that I ever saw/read. However anime is better, I admit it. Characters are dull and too simple, "Bleach" lost his magic after Soul Society Saga. After this, it's much, much worse. This manga only has battles, which base on ONLY two styles - rare and kinda forgotten Kidou and those swords battles. In "Bleach" tactics (and plot almost, it's too simple even for shounen) don't exist - everything is based on who has more power and better release. It's boring. Heck, even in Naruto it wasn't that predictible, as we always have tactician Shikamaru and sometimes Sasuke (but I don't like him) had good tactical ideas. If you look for shounen manga, go for One Piece or Witch Hunter (really good korean manhwa, one of the best shounens around). I also need to start Gintama, as I heard few good words about it ;).

But I also watched quite a few anime. But unlike in manga I prefer to watch comedies. Seto no Hanayome, Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu, Oruchuban Ebichu, Shin Chan, Furi Kuri, Full Metal Panic, Golden Boy (yeah, Golden Boy rocks socks), Cromartie High School and some, some more. I really love japanese type of humour and I may recommend some more if you want ;).

The only manga of those first few that you listed that I've ever heard of is Berserk, which I have heard good things about.

Haha, well, everyone has different tastes. Personally, I didn't like One Piece from what I saw, but that was the shitty (it's ok to swear here :P) 4Kids version. I also never really got interested in Naruto even though I've watched several episodes of it. Anyways, Bleach isn't really a HUGE favorite of mine, but I really don't watch that much anime so there's not much from me to choose from.

I love Shin Chan and FLCL, I can't believe I forgot about them. I've seen a couple of clips from Cromartie High School and I desperately want to watch it, but I've never been good about finding torrents or streaming sites. :(

Speaking of streaming sites, that reminds me that I've also watched Hajime No Ippo from a friend's recommendation, and it was simply amazing. There was also another anime that was about a weird card-based version of rock-paper-scissors that was played by people in deep dept on a "cruise" ship basically gambling for their lives. Those who win enough money to pay off their debt get to keep whatever's leftover from their winnings and can do whatever with their lives; those who lose all their money or these star chips they have to collect as well (think Yugioh, same concept) are forced to work at this labor camp until they pay off their debt that way. I wish I could remember the name so I wouldn't have to give such a lengthy description, but it was some really weird Japanese name. :(

But I may recommend them without any risk ;). They're not short, but worth the time that you spend on reading. Only quite short is Witch Hunter, which has 39 chapters (all of them you may find on mangafox). If you want to start with something, then Vinland Saga is the shortert of them without counting Witch Hunter.

One Piece is quite... specific. Strange drawing style and quite original humour may not fit for everyone tastes and I need to warn that beginning is quite boring. Manga gets better and better with every single chapter. After 2-3 beginning arcs One Piece starts to rock. Good, entertaining battles and interesting powers makes this title the most popular shounen in Japan and probably one of the most in the world. Not without reason. But yeah, beginning doesn't help to make it even more popular.

For my tastes too long to even consider reading/watching it x_x. I started reading Detective Conan and to be honest I stopped at 200 chapters. But yeah, I also heard few good things about Hajime no Ippo.

And about this card game anime - to be honest, I don't remember anything like this. But if you look for hardcore-like title, with gore and cruelty, go for Battle Royale (which only has... movie and manga). Battle Royale is title, in which students goes on school trip to suddenly... being forced to sleep and sitting in mysterious classroom. In that classroom they were informed, that they landed on island without any population and to survive they must... kill each other for cruel TV Show. If no one dies, that after 24 hours collars on their necks explodes with small bombs, killing all of them. So yeah, at least one person must die and only the last one may survive... And it's quite short, so it's another plus for it.

About streaming websites - to be honest, I always watch anime online, so I don't know any good site. Hmmm... maybe there's something - I used in the past datorrents.com and it was a solid choice.

Eh, I'm not a fan of reading manga online. Past experiences have shown me that they tend to be done by multiple different translators, which gets confusing if they don't all translate in almost exactly the same way. I prefer to buy the books at the store.

Really? I don't consider Hajime no Ippo to be that long, especially compared to stuff like One Piece, Bleach, Naruto, etc. I actually prefer longer series since I don't like it when good books or TV shows end. Detective Conan appeals to me for that exact reason, although I can't find anywhere that sells the first 10 or 20 volumes. :(

I actually read the original novel that inspired the manga series, and it was truly an amazing read. I wish I'd bought the book when I had the chance. :( I haven't read the manga or seen the anime (if one exists), though.

I really like naruto shippuden as you can see from my username but probably my favorite would be bleach. I HATE all american dubs of anime I mean, the voices of everyone in naruto is just horrible i mean the girls sound like they're having orgasms and kakashi sounds like a drunken narrator for a pbs wildlife show. i really agree with garganator on the bleach comment about the bad arcs. i loved the soul society invasion thing but all of the others were just horrible i skipped 130 eps, i think the current arc is really good and the arrancar / espada had good fights and nel is just so cute and funny
