An ability can make or break a pokemon and oftentimes makes up its identity. Where would Machamp be without No Guard? Where would Espeon be without Magic Mirror? If we can apply these same ideas to other pokemon, we can create a much more diverse metagame. If we can redistribute some of these abilities to other pokemon, we can make the metagame much more diverse and enjoyable. CAM should redistribute abilities to pokemon as well as moves. It would create a more balanced metagame and a much more diverse and enjoyable one. Now, I can already forsee the two main points against this.

A) CAM redistributes only moves.
How different is a move from an ability? If we can take pokemon like Gengar and hack it and give it Nasty Plot, we've just created an entirely new pokemon. Alternatively, if we can hack Gengar and give it something like No Guard (Focus Blast anyone?), we've created another entirely new pokemon. So if we are redistributing moves, what's the big deal with redistributing abilities? We are changing a pokemon slightly to create a new one. What we change shouldn't really make a difference as long as the new pokemon is significantly improved or makes the metagame more viable.

B) Wasn't Dream World enough for you?
Game Freak is not competitively minded. We are. They redistributed abilities with the Dream World entirely based on what they wanted. Yet we could find a much better use for many of these ablities. How is it fair that Gyarados and Salamence get Overconfidence while Muk gets Poison Hand (I'd love to see a Regeneration Muk). We can redistribute these abilities with much better thought than Game Freak can.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this issue.

We've had this discussion many times with other people. We generally agree that CAM is moves only. Even though I think we should stick with moves, I like your logic and I'd like to hear what the other admins think.

Okay, my feelings on this are that just focusing on moves is more than enough for us. We still can't program moves, and we just have a lot of work to be done...

Also, we can't change the metagame too much. I mean, how do we know when to stop? Before you know it, people will be asking to make new Items, new base stats, new evolutions... soon we are not even playing pokemon anymore. We should limit ourselves to moves, and do a good job at it...
I respect all the hard work that Plusle and the others have done on CAM, I don't think we need this too...

Half true. Plusle can put the new moves. We only need someone that can run the computer 24/7

To be clear, I don't want to reinvent the wheel. I don't plan on making anything too gamebreaking, I just plan on making a few things more viable and making the metagame more interesting. Here are a few of the things I would plan on doing if we opted to do this. If these appeal to you, then great!

Perversity on many CC or Superpower mons (Hariyama)
No Guard on a Zap Cannon pokemon (Magnezone)
Poison Heal on some lower tier walls (Milotic)
Sand Throw/Power on some alternate pokemon (Goruggo)

These are just some ideas of what I plan on doing if we allow for new ability distribution. If this appeals to you, show your support so we can make this possible.
