Ah, the atheists...those who declare themselves free of any higher authority, who govern themselves, and who frown upon people of other beliefs as being "old fashion" and "unwilling to keep up with the times."
(sounds kind of like a teenager who never grew up, right?)
Now, evolution and atheism are two separate issues. Evolution is the belief that Humans evolved from progressively more advanced species until they became what they are today (and immediately became 'concerned with the environment' and realized that basically everything they do sends nature flying out of balance, and that they must work to preserve it. Don't worry guys, I'm sure life on earth could evolve into living in a world of pollution. Relax! In the next 50 million years, 'being green' will probably be frowned upon.)
Atheism, on the other hand, is the belief that THERE IS NO CREATOR. They believe this supposedly on the lack of evidence for the existence of God.
HOWEVER, if you get into the subject with any atheist, he will admit that 'nobody really knows where the world came from' but that they have total faith in science to reveal the answer.
I would like to point out several flaws with this mindset.
1. If you don't know how the world was created, why do you dismiss the possibility of a god so easily? Some of you may have heard of ShockofGod on youtube or on his radio show, asking atheists to provide proof that atheism is accurate and correct. Their answer is usually that "atheism is a DISbelief, therefor it cannot be 'proven'" (
http://www.youtube.com/user/shockofgod)
Well, I agree that a disbelief cannot be proven. I do not believe in unicorns, however I cannot prove they don't exist. My argument against the existence of the flying spaghetti monster is the fact that nobody has ever seen it, there are no flying spaghetti monster traces anywhere and there have been no records of the flying spaghetti monster at all since recently (when atheists made him up as a jibe against religion)
So my 'not having proof' is justified by the fact that there is no evidence.
However, the fact that the bible exists, and the fact that the WORLD exists, are EVIDENCE for God. They may not be proof by themselves, but they are definitely evidence (of course, I would argue that the fact the world exists is ABSOLUTE proof that a creator exists, but we'll get into that later.)
So that means THERE IS ALREADY MORE PROOF FOR GOD THAN FOR ATHEISM
The slightest bit of evidence for God means there's more evidence that there is a God than that there isn't. So there we go.
the only way atheism could be justified is if there was no existence at all (in which case we wouldn't be here to ponder that anyway) or at least if time did not exist, therefor we would be eternal and need no creator, and be free to govern ourselves (and we'd all be screwed)
2. There is no evidence for the Bible.
The fact that the bible even exists and makes sense is enough for me. However, let's dig into this a bit. Here are some historical facts:
1. Jesus Christ did exist
2. Jesus Christ was crucified under Pilate.
2. He was buried in a tomb
3. His tomb was found empty
4. The disciples claimed to see Jesus risen and alive
5. Jesus' doubting brother James was convinced that Jesus had risen from the dead.
6. The church spread and grew, and many people were converted by the resurrection.
Now, first of all, There were roman guards at the tomb. They would be punished with death for deserting their posts. It would take something really freaky to make them drop their weapons and leave their post.
Also, and this is the biggest issue, why would the disciples believe Jesus rose form the dead when he didn't? Especially since they went out and risked their lives (all of them except for John were killed) to spread the good news. It doesn't make sense. These were people who knew Jesus very well. They wouldn't confuse him with someone else.
3. Objective morality. Atheists really avoid this subject. They just hate it. You ask them "is there objective mortality" they say no. But then you ask them, "Is it wrong to murder" they say yes, but other people disagree. And then (here's the checkmate) you ask them "So if someone murders someone else and they think murder is okay, should they be punished?"
They just can't answer this question. It's unbelievable. It's madness. Atheism is absolute madness. They say God does not exist, but he can exist, they say objective morality does not exist but does....they're just very confused people.
There's a lot more to it of course, but it all comes down to this:
Man is sinful. Everyone can see that. Romans 3:23-24 All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by grace through Jesus Christ.
God loves us. He loves us so much that he actually became a man, came to earth, and died for our sins.
So my friends, atheists claim to be free. But in reality, they are not even close to being free. They are slaves to their sin, they are dead in their unbelief. Christians, however are free of sin, free of guilt, and free of DOUBT that our creator and everlasting father loves us with all his heart, and that he sent his son to die for us, so that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but live everlasting life.
Atheism=PWNED
