Introduction
The VGC is perhaps the most intense Pokemon battle style of all time. It's just because there's so much on the line. They don't have a event in every city, so if you plan on participating you may have to travel. So, you spend money on travel, then to stay in a hotel, and if you don't win you may feel like it was for nothing. This is not true as the experience of battling great trainers in this setting can not be matched. So if you want to succeed your gonna have to know your stuff, big time.
Opposing Teams
Unless you're the only one that showed up, your gonna have to battle different teams, in order to advance higher, and secure your trip to Nats. Here are some of the common teams you might come across.
For Field effects such as Trick Room, Tailwind, Rain, Sun, Hail, and Sandstorm please follow this link:

Standard Doubles
Unlike VGC which is it's own tier Doubles is just singles with an added Pokemon to each side. It also negates the VGC item clause so have as many Life Orb's as you want!
Team building for doubles is a lot like VGC, just take the tier into consideration. You're gonna want to have a good spread of Pokemon, and moves. Helping Hand is always handy for your common bulky support Pokemon such as Musharna. In doubles Protect is a necessity as it provides a crucial Pokemon on your team with protection as then you partner has an oppurtunity to take out the threat. I recommend having
at least 4 Pokemon on your team with Protect. Another thing to mention. Moves that hit multiple Pokemon have their power reduced to 75%. Some moves function differently to.
Outrage, Petal Dance, Thrash, Uproar, and Me First choose a random target to attack, so they're always a gamble.
In addition double battles have a bigger emphasis on strategy, so be on your toes.
