Section 3: Calibration



This will be broken into steps. Don't skip steps. They're all important.

-Step 1: Hit DS Parameter Search.



I pray that this is self explanatory?

-Step 2: Find your Mac Address.



To find your Mac Address, start up your game and before hitting "continue", scroll down on your game and hit Nintendo WFC Settings > Options >System Information, and put your full MAC Address into the Parameter Finder window, do not use the dashes, just numbers/letters. Also fill in your DS Type and Game Version in the circled area. Don't worry about the vFrame and such for the moment.
Leave "soft reset" and "held buttons" unchecked and at none, respectively.



Step 3: Save in a cave.



Initial setup:
Assemble a temporary "catching party", which should *ideally* consist of a Sweet Scent user such as Amoongus, Breloom, or Parasect (Parasect is best, as it has Sweet Scent, False Swipe, and Spore), and four other members of your choosing, just make sure you have an open slot in your party.
Save in a cave with no NPC's. Victory Road's first room is great, or Giant Chasm. Once you save, hard reset (power off, power on, do not start game).



Substeps:
-Enter a time into the red area in the above screencap. This is the time your going to press A to start your game from the DS Home Menu. This should be about a minute in the future, I recommend leaving the seconds at 30 and aim for that 30 second mark.
>>On DSi or 3DS, you can't see the seconds. You will have to synch your DS to another clock with a clear Seconds reading (your comp's clock is fine, or a watch, analog clock, ect. DS Phat/Lite, use the seconds hand on the top screen of your DS.
-Hit A at the time you entered into the parameter finder, and use Sweet Scent ASAP, without taking any steps. Catch the pokemon you see, and determine its exact IVs (Pokecheck is great, and is also useful to find your SID if you want Shiny pokemon, or use an online stat calculator). DO NOT TURN ON C-GEAR. EVER.
-Enter its IVs into the slots in the green circle. If you have exact IVs, set Min/Max as the same value. If you have a single digit for the IV, use 5_ or 8_, not 05 or 08. Pokecheck is again useful to get exact IVs, especially on low level captures. You can use Reporter's built in IV calculator, or an online stat calculator such as Metalkid or Serebii.
-Hit Search. If you did these substeps correctly, you will see a result pop up in the gray box in the bottom-right corner of the window. Copy the GxStat, Vframe, Vcount, and Timer0 onto a piece of paper, or Notepad/Word. And make note of the Timer0 value in particular. Ignore the Seed.



>>Actual Seconds: this will be different than the Seconds in the red circle. That is the actual time your game seeded. Take note of the difference in seconds. In the above screenshot, my time that I aimed to turn my DS on is 23:47:30. That's 11:47:30 PM for those who aren't familiar with 24 hour clocks ("military time"). In the results in the grey box, I would see an Actual Seconds of 31, in addition to my Encryption Variables (which is everything except the displayed Seed and Actual seconds). This basically means my game "seeded" one second after I pushed A (this should be a 3 sec difference for DSi/XL, and 8 secs for 3DS).
>>Now, every time you want to hit a Target Time in the future, you would press A 1, 3, or 8 seconds prior to that time. For example, to hit a target time of 12:34:45, I would hit A on the DS home menu at 12:34:44 for DS Lite/Phat, 12:34:42 for DSi/XL, and 12:34:37 for 3DS. You'll be using those second delays for every RNG attempt, so keep that info in your head ;)
DO NOT TURN ON C-GEAR. EVER.



Repeat these Substeps until you see two different Timer0 Values. The other variables, ie GxStat, Vframe and VCount, should not change at all. With DS Lite Phat, your Timer0 is 3 numbers/letters, C7C/C7D for example as a min/max Timer0. DSi and 3DS are 4 digits, such as 12BB/12BC for a min/Max Timer0. Take note of both Timer0 values. Timer0 values will always be adjacent, just a single number or letter higher/lower.
If you consistently get more than 2 Timer0's: BUY THE DAMN GAME, or get a better emulator/ROM.



When you have your parameters written down, close the parameter window, open Time Finder from the main RNG Reporter page, click the 5th Gen DS Parameters Setup Tab, and fill it out. Leave Soft Reset unchecked and Keypresses as none. Leave Skip L/R Buttons unchecked if both of your buttons work, check it if one or both are broke. Keep your parameters in a safe spot: a notebook irl, Notepad/Wordpad. Sometimes, Reporter forgets your settings. If you don't write down these parameters, you will probably regret it one day.



Also, helpful tip: If one of your Timer0 values pops up 4-5 times in a row and you haven't got a second value, you honestly don't have to worry about. It means your Timer0 is stable, so you just use that value as both the Min/max Timer0 value. I don't have that honor, mine is horribly moody. If the stable Timer0 happens to you: I am jealous.
You still have a second value of course, and may hit it from time to time.
