Deals physical damage. Gains a 30% chance of causing an effect, depending on the terrain it is used in. These are as follows:

Building: Paralysis

Cave: Flinch

Grass: Sleep

Puddle: Lowers Speed 1 stage

Plain/Sand: Lowers Accuracy 1 stage

Water: Lowers Attack 1 stage

In Wi-Fi and simulator battles, the terrain is always assumed as "Plain/Sand". Although a physical move, this move does not make contact with the opponent.

Competitive Use

Secret Power has little competitive use. The chance to lower accuracy is also not a big draw, since doing so is an unreliable tactic. Dunsparce, Meloetta-P, and Sawsbuck are the only slighly viable users of this move, due to their Serene Grace abilities doubling the added effects chances to 60%, and dealing out STAB damage from it. However, as far as Sawsbuck is concerned, it definately has better things that it could be doing with the move slot.
