In case you might have missed it, I want to point out that the new
Damage Calculator I made, has specific support for Battle Tower players. If you open the Preferences Dialog (under the File Menu on the main toolbar), you will see an option to "Show Battle Tower Movesets". If you set that to "Yes", it will display the movesets for all the known threats in the Battle Tower, according to the lists posted in the BT threads.
This group was the EXACT audience of people I was intending with this feature, so I feel obligated to "announce" it here.
Even though I haven't made a serious BT run in quite a while, I still consider myself to be a "Battle Tower Fanatic" at heart. I remember when making my BT runs, I was constantly referring to the threat list and making thumbnail damage calcs during battles. With this Damage Calculator, it is considerably easier to manage the threat list during a run.
The way I use it, is like this:
- I set up the calculator with 4 pokemon, my team occupies the last three Pokemon Forms.
- I use the first Pokemon Form for whatever pokemon I am facing at the time in the BT
- I pick the species and then scroll through the BT movesets when I face a new pokemon
- By using the Switch Direction Tool at the top, I can easily toggle the calculator to see what kind of damage my team can give and take, at a glance
I don't know if any of you will bother using the feature. Most good BT players know the threat list fairly well, and might not need to run calcs like this. But, I'm slow and meticulous during my long runs, and I like to cover all my bases if possible.
TBH, when I first made the calculator, I was intending to have the BT stuff just be a "private thing" in my own personal copy of the code. Then I said to myself -- "I bet there are other BT freaks out there that would appreciate this..". So I included it. At the very least, I think the inclusion of BT sets gives a little more "legitimacy" to the Battle Tower, as a worthwhile competitive endeavor. Even if it doesn't, I still think it's nifty -- and it's not like it gets in the way for people that are uninterested in using it.
Have fun with the calculator! BT rules!
