Welp I want to do my usual large scale project in minecraft and I'm planning one in the current smogcraft server. I want to do a trio of temples based on the legendaries of the Pokémon games. I'm only really willing to do three and I'd like to keep it to the same games so they have a connecting theme between them.
Current general plans is to base the temples off the characteristics on the 'mons, for example a Kyogre temple would be water based and out in the ocean. They'll consist of an elaborate opening with a large statue of the Pokémon in question then a creative and large interior for people to explore. Anybody that's seen my work before know I can pull this off.
So, it should be clear at this point that I haven't set what 'mons I'll be doing. That's where everybody else comes in. You guys get to pick the trio and help out with its design from start to finish. I'll post plans, progress and other neat things as I go. So here's the potential trios:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tower trio (Ho-oh, Lugia, Celebi): Okay, I'm kinda cheating with this one since technically Celebi doesn't belong with them but the varity is too much to pass up. Ho-oh's temple can be based on it's tower. Lugia can be a water cave and Celebi some mossy ruins. They all have clear themes from the games that don't need to be tied to typing all the time.
There's a lot I can do with these guys. They have some rich and varied themes. A top pick for me.
Golem trio (Regice, Registeel, Regirock): Registeel is going to be a huge pain to do as metals are hard to come by. All the temples here should probably have an underlying redstone mechanism theme as they're machines.
Interesting trio. I'd have to work very hard to make them good but they have plenty of potential. I personally think it's worth thinking about.
Weather trio (Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza): They have very clear and distinct themes that are suited to minecraft. Ocean temple for kyogre, desert/deep lava for groudon and sky temple for rayquaza.
Another top pick. They're very easy to do in the game and they have a large variation in body shapes and colours. They would be the most distinctly themed temples.
Creation trio (Palkia, Dialga, Giratina): Oh god, their themes are a bit difficult to do. Probably could use void fog and mushroom biome floor to giratina's advantage. Palkia could probably do a theme involving water puzzles. Dialga is the hardest and I'm a bit stumped there.
Really difficult to do, but has potential.
Tao trio (Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem): They do have some potential, shame Reshiram and Zekrom don't have particularly good places associated with them. Kyurem is a goldmine for a creative ice temple but will have to work to make up for the lack of colourful lore the other two don't have.
Mixed bag here. At least I can make designs for Reshiram and Zekrom easily enough.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"What about the other trios?!" Well I probably think they're uninteresting to do for a varity of reasons, so am unwilling to work on them. Similarity in body form is usually the trio killer for me. A lot of the unmentioned trios are wanderers too, which means they generally have poor lore.
So pick which one of these you'd like me to work on!
