This has bugged me ever since the original base set. Usually when your active pokemon has a special condition such as being paralyzed or asleep it cannot attack or retreat unless the condition is removed first.
Now what does it happen if instead of trying to retreat normally you use the trainer card "switch"? Do you ignore all of those effects and retreat like nothing?
If that's the case can someone point me to the official faq or section of the game that specifies this case? ._.

Can't link you, but yes "Switch" does allow you to retreat and thereby void the status condition. Iirc, you can still switch out of certain status conditions like Poison and Confusion (if you flip heads).
