I think without the royal family, the United Kingdom would look far less impressive to other people :P Especially as they still wear the crowns and stuff, unlike the other lame countries' royal families that just wear suits.

So yeah, the Queen makes us look civilised and cool xD

all I know is that the monarchy is an enduring symbol of all that is british and should be defended until the end of time. the queen is also awesome...she served in WWII, how many ruling heads of state can claim that?

I think that the Queen is something that gives us a sense of international identity; otherwise we'd have Mr Gordon Brown as the face of Britain, and no-one needs that.
I Also think that she gives people something to fight for in wars (WWII, Iraq, etc), as in fighting for 'Queen and Country.'

The monarchy will never go away, it's a British intitution. And anyway, if they're not doing anything, it also means that they're not doing anything bad. I'm not really bothered to be honest, but hey, there's my opinion
