If you're just starting out at Smogon, I would recommend lurking (not posting) for a while to get a feel for how the community is here. There's nothing worse than starting out on the wrong foot and degrading yourself because you were oblivious to one of the community's many unwritten social rules (trust me, I've been there). Just hang around for a little while, give the stickies and the rules a good read through, and get a feel for what is and what is not acceptable. If you follow through with all of those, you'll be a well respected poster in no time!
