I wouldn't think Ferrothorn could stand up to Mixed Kyurem because of STAB Ice moves or Focus Blast. :/ I guess maybe it could bad if it came in on Outrage, but that can be said for any Dragon with usable physical attack.
Maybe GF will give Kyurem so many buffs in the next 5th gen game that this discussion will become irrelevant. It really should have at least gotten Snow Warning or something.
I guess I could argue that Kyurem isn't meant to really sweep as it is to break walls since it honestly can't sweep in OU unless you use Scarf lol.
Using Roost also limits your coverage to Draco Meteor/Fire Blast, and either EQ (walled by Blissey), Brick Break (still only 2HKOes Tran), or Outrage (walled by Heatran...), kills the whole Salamence has better coverage argument. Granted, Dragon Dance is a huge asset.
I don't think Salamence is better, but I don't think that necessarily means Kyurem is better. I was just pointing out its not outclassed and both can work well. Depends on if you want Dragon Dance and Fire/Ground moves or a better time against Grounds and Waters.
I'm posting this here since I didn't want to turn the UU megathread into an inevitable Kyurem vs. Salamence debate since it really doesn't belong there.
Kyurem doesn't need two moveslots to cover Steels (Focus Blast), has much more Special Attack which means its Draco Meteors bite a lot more, and can blow past bulky Grounds more efficiently with STAB Ice moves (which also owns Skarmory). Its typing is also a blessing in disguise as the Ice neutrality lets it take on bulky waters a lot, lot better. Kyurem also has much better defenses than Salamence (who is weak to Dragon and Rock just like Kyurem btw). The lesser movepool is irrelevant since Kyurem honestly has just enough to do what it needs (arguably), and the only significant things Mence outruns Kyurem doesn't are Haxorus and Hydreigon, which aren't common on stall teams.
I wouldn't say Salamence outclasses Kyurem as a mixed attacker personally.
