Well, I do agree that more creativity is definitely good, I do feel that is a bit assuming to say banning Stealth Rock will do nothing detrimental. There's a good chance it will, but there's also chance it won't. Honestly, I think it's hard to say if banning Stealth Rock will make the metagame more fun without actually testing it. It would be cool if there would be a SR-less tier implemented on Showdown to see how it would fare.
On the other hand, I'm not sure how I feel banning something that isn't really "broken". Stealth Rock isn't gonna win you the game, but on the other hand it might not be really healthy for the game.
Hey, I definitely understand some of your arguments for banning Stealth Rock (though I feel that banning goes too far). However, when you bring up that SR makes pokemon like Volcarona and Yanmega unviable, I don't really understand that argument. Why do they need to be viable? Thanks in advance for a reply.
Hey man, I just want to say that I think you're making some great posts in the debating threads, and that it's very insightful when reading what you have to say. I'm pretty astonished by the quality of your posts, considering you only joined last February. I'm guessing you had a lot of competitive back round knowledge before joining Smogon?
Yeah a lot of the arguments are pretty silly, I even said so myself when I replied to Kidogo and ignored some of his points. (as they were in response to some of the stupid arguments of the otherside) Overall, I don't really agree to grouping everybody together like that just because they share the same conclusion. It would be kinda like if I made a post in response to vyomov and threw your name in because you were pro-ban. I'm not saying you need to delete the post or anything, I would just appreciate it if you would take my name out of it since it doesn't really apply to me.
Edit: I probably should have PM'd you all this, sorry for sticking it on your profile page.
I don't know. I don't really like the post much as it pretty much strawman'd the entire pro-SR side by picking out specific quotes and then distorting the whole position to appear as something that it is not. I never once talked about having SR to check threats or anything of the sort and I don't feel like the image you provide represents my own position much at all.
Yeah, I said it was "good enough" which would imply that it may not be great but it is sufficient and possible because the need to remove it isn't very pressing. This is very different from "isn't that hard to stop from setting up" where it says that it is a chore to even setup SR. I even mentioned later on in the same post that I liked how SR being so easy to setup and keep up. (because it punishes switches)
haha. kudos on your most recent post in the "are entry hazards broken" thread. It was entertaining and expands upon almost all of the discussion that's been currently had.
"Besides, if they're so good that the only thing that can stop them from wiping through the metagame is a field condition which supposedly isn't that hard to stop from setting up (says Curtains, Melee Mewtwo)"
Um what? When did I ever say SR wasn't hard to stop from setting up? Could you please link me to this?
Hi! I was reading your first post in the Debate thread, and I have to say that you did a tremendous job in outlining your points. It was easy to follow, and your points were well-founded. I'm happy you liked my SubPetaya Empoleon team as well. In fact, I actually got to #14 on the OU ladder a while back with Bronzong; the team itself can be seen in The Shooting Star Project, one of my older RMTs. If you really want to find it, you can just click the Luvdisc button in the OU Teams section of RMT. It has 39 Luvdiscs to its name, if that helps anything. Anyways, I'm only posting here to say that you did a good job in your post. Keep it up!
