Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
You can say the reverse for the swift swimmers. Or for any of them. If one thing is banned, and doesn't fix the issue, obviously it will be fixed next round. This is not a good argument for why one proposal is better than another.
There's a good amount less ignoring going on now and a lot more not reading the rest of the posts and jumping in at the end just to save time. Its isn't really up for debate if drizzle+swift swim is too much really, its all been more of a question of which to get rid of. Its also not that you...
Exactly my reply nanoswine xD. Zapdos, nat, and scizor benefit from 8 turn rain also... just not any time during a whole fight without having to put thought behind it. Not only are they not a separate idea from either rain stall or rain offense type teams, even outside of drizzle you could still...
Get over yourselves people and realize...
Rain Dance Teams were in gen 5 before Drizzle.
We saw that they were obviously not broken, and it caused no problems at all... in fact it was even harder to set up and sweep than last gen. 8 turn swift swim was doing the same with three pokes that a...
Just noticed your colossal edit. Anyway, I used gen 5 as an example. Before drizzle was around. In rain, Swift swim was not overpowering. Kingdra ludi and kabu didn't even barely get play. Drizzle made a huge 180, giving a normal, balanced strategy power it could only have imagined before.
The...
you missed a word in the bold there... infinate. No one is going to run politoed just to counter other weather, or for stall, so stop kidding yourself.
You say it completely removes an immense amount of options? like which, may I ask? Please list these options that can't happen in 8 turn rain...
Look directly up from your post and read mine, in which I explain the real reason people want to ban drizzle instead of a few pokemon that it facilitates.
http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3239959&postcount=1114 <-explains what will more than likely happen to the meta from each...
Saying that last gen something was suspect in UU (but not found broken even at that low level) proves literally nothing. And there was a debate between damp rock ban and swift swim ban in uu... i think someone linked it earlier actually. Ended up being a vote for damp rock ban, which didn't pass...
Damp rock or the rain sweepers would have been banned to ou... where they were certainly never even called into question.
wait, aren't we talking about OU right now since there is no UU? hm... I bet if we took MOST ou pokes and used them in UU it'd be broken or at least suspect... doesn't...
If you have 1 setup rain dancer, your team is gonna get only 8 turns of rain, then when you switch to set up again he's gonna get wasted. Happens all the time... hence why you put rain dance on one or two (most commonly ludicolo or kingdra as they have good bulk/typing) to re-up without a...
meant as a specification+joke, but i guess that never translates well ;-;
Also, most people feel it is relevant because all of the pokemon being abused are gen 4 pokemon, and not only is the metagame that stopped it all viable and playable, but even more and better counters have been...
also fidgety... drizzle is the niche. If only sunkern got drizzle for some absurd reason, it would replace politoed for these reain teams.
Its also extremely hard to justify that a pokemon with 95 atk and satk is completely broken outside of being able to use moves over and over for as long as...
More like
{Ability} creates a situation where {Not Broken Pokemon} can be used in a broken manner => {Ability}
"Broken manner" being a set of crucial things that people seem to be forgetting!
1)Rain Dance can be taunted, drizzle is immune.
2)Swift Swim users are commonly forced to run damp...

It is pretty much consensus that drizzle+swift swim is broken and over-centralizing... I'd say over 90% of people agree on that (can't speak specifics, just going by this entire thread and everything I've seen/heard on PO). I can guess that you are probably good at predicting them...
Try doing your calculations with Damp Rock and 3 move movesets... then tell me there aren't any pokes that can stop them. And thats aside from the fact that you can't think of it as the whole set, you have to think for each individual.
Natt walls kingdra and often carries para, crippling...
