  1. Friend wants to suicide?

Weird. My friend also has a twin brother, and they don't fight that much, but when they do, they get serious. It's good to see you're trying to help her :)
  2. Friend wants to suicide?

Ehm, my best friend tried to commit suicide almost two years ago. I saw pretty much all the signs, but I didn't know back then he would actually do it. He fell in this horrible depression, and after two months he couldn't handle it anymore and well... the rest is history. Afterwards, I fell...
  3. Where do you work?

I'm a Research Assistant at my Uni, while I'm finishing a Master's degree on Electronics... so, does that count as a job?
  4. Speed Reading

Just study as you're supposed to. Dedicate three hours or so, and then do everything else you want to do. If you read 1300 words per minute and understand the whole text then fine. Otherwise, read at your own rythm and adjust the rest of your life around it.
  5. (Mis)adventures in Paleontology.

They don't. Otherwise I'd be an orphan by now xD The Thylacoleo looks awesome, but it kinda looks like an angry seal on that pic. Is there any clue on why this marsupial is extinct? I've heard weather changes, homo sapiens appearing on Australia and such, but I'm not aware of recent findings...
  6. (Mis)adventures in Paleontology.

I beg to differ. I've seen Archaeologists face mountain cats, pumas, black bears, rattle snakes, scorpions, bees, killing bees, twisted ankles and broken legs, broken hearts and shattered bones... xD
  7. (Mis)adventures in Paleontology.

Not even in yourself? or Santa? Ok, j/k. I'm sorry, I had to say it xD. On a different note, how do you prepare for a long field trip? Tools, food, clothing, magazines of some sort... etc.?
  8. (Mis)adventures in Paleontology.

I'm not bitter either, but you're one of the few people I've encountered who make that distinction between what you believe and what you know. I once gave one of them a dictionary to look up the words theory and fact xD... so funny how he couldn't continue the argument. I just tend to ignore...
  9. (Mis)adventures in Paleontology.

I disagree. I'm an engineer, I'm sexy and I have a personality. Thank you very much :D Archaeology. Usually that's the case, like colorful and huge feathers, pouches, etc., on birds, but I kind of agree with the 'adaptation' and 'addition' definitions of t&b. And BTW, I was reading...
  10. (Mis)adventures in Paleontology.

Nice! I hope more of my friends would think the way you do... most of them want to do whatever it takes to just earn a shitload of money, instead of learning things. Are you interested particularly in any branch of the field?
  11. (Mis)adventures in Paleontology.

OMG. So hilarious. LOL. But you must agree most people don't know what DNA Polymerase is or what it does, and she must have heard jeans... so, I wouldn't blame her :p And tell us, is there like a dream you have as a Paleontologist? :p
  12. (Mis)adventures in Paleontology.

Hmm I kind of understand these things, I've been hearing about them my whole life :p... but anyways, I'm not an expert. I know all sites are different, but I'm curious about the differences that may exist. Hmm... not precisely liberal arts and garbage. Besides, as you stated, different places...
  13. (Mis)adventures in Paleontology.

Great! My parents are both archaeologists, and my mom recently finished a masters in Paleontology... so I'm somewhat familiar with this stuff. Bad thing I didn't turn out like them since I made a very different career choice lol... but this is very interesting indeed. Hmm, I was just...
  14. How Old is Everyone Here?

This is so true. I'm 23 btw, and joined smogon three years ago... interesting.
  15. Why gay marriage is allowed in CA

I know it's not the debate forum per se, but I have to answer here: When does anyone wake up an think "today I'm going to be one?" I'm sorry, but right now it seems there is more prevalence of AIDS in straight people, particularly in married women. I just read an article about it, and...
