All Gens The Best Types In History - Round 2: GSC (See post 114)

For RBY, there should be no question that Psychic was the best type. It was only weak to Bug (which had irrelevant move distribution), was immune to Ghost (which suffered a similar issue as Bug), and was unresisted. That coupled with the fact that Alakazam, Slowbro, and Starmie could use STAB...

Baton Pass - its role in the metagame and possible solutions to nerf full Baton Pass chains

Except your opponent needs turns to set up. Leading anything with Trick+Scarf or Taunt and you can force them to switch around instead of passing, and you can double switch to catch them off-guard. Once you deal with Espeon, you can dismantle the rest of their team as per usual. Its just basic...

Baton Pass - its role in the metagame and possible solutions to nerf full Baton Pass chains

As a player who started on NetBattle in gen 3, I never thought I'd see the day when Baton Pass was considered for suspecting. BP teams are not invincible, nor are they particularly tough to handle. 1) Hazard control. BP teams rely on switches, so Spikes and SR do a decent job of whittling down...

Other XY OU Viability Ranking Thread (V2) (Last update on post #5189)

I wholeheartedly agree with moving Volcarona up to at least a B+. With how prominent Excadrill is, Stealth Rock is particularly easy to remove, and Giga Drain remedies a lot of its sustain issues. After only one Quiver Dance, its stats are high enough to blast its way though a large portion of...

    Move Knock Off

Machamp @ Assault Vest Adamant 252 HP/ 252 Att / 4 SpDef -Dynamichpunch -Stone Edge -Knock Off -Poison Jab/Bullet Punch Pretty self-explanatory. It works really well, since that power increase is enough to take out a lot of things that are weak to it.

    Pokémon Heliolisk

As something with a fairly strong Volt Switch, he pairs really well with things that have Intimidate. Arcanine, Gyarados, Landorus-T, and Salamence all have some offensive and defensive synergy. Gyarados, Lando, and Salamence all can come into ground moves aimed at Heliolisk. Heliolisk can come...

    Pokémon Heliolisk

I've been running it as a scarf revenge-killer, and it does its job alright. His stats are just BARELY too low to be amazing, but he's niche, which is fun. He's been serving as a good check to Aigislash, which makes him worth something. If he only had a little more sp att.....

    Battle Maison Discussion & Records

I've been having good success with this (Broke the 40 mark): Blaziken @ Blazikenite Speed Boost Adamant 4 HP / 252 Att / 252 Spd -Protect -Shadow Claw -Blaze Kick -High Jump Kick Togekiss @ Leftovers Serene Grace Calm 252 HP / 4 Sp Att / 252 Sp Def -Dazzling Gleam -Thunder Wave -Roost -Air...

    Pokémon Whimsicott

In gen 5, I used a Subseed set with decent success. Whimsicott Leftovers Bold, 252 HP/ 252 Def / 4 SpDef -Stun Spore -Substitute -Leech Seed -Taunt While it was fun, it wasn't great, and often got used as a last-ditch Stun Spore machine if my opponent was setting up something that I couldn't...

    Pokémon Heliolisk

Personally, I wouldn't put Life Orb and Substitute on the same set. You'll die WAY too fast to do much. And Parabolic Charge is included as an option on sets with moves like Substitute where you lose HP rapidly in order to maintain longevity.

    Other Item Clause

We actually don't disagree on much. 1) My point was that you don't have nearly as many opportunities to switch out when half of your team is on the field already, therefore the damage output from entry hazards is lower. So overall, yo're switching less. I didn't mean no switching at all, that...
