Anyway, hope you enjoy one of my favorite movies. : )
Compared to other Ghibli movies, it's a lot less... strange, if you know what I mean. I haven't heard a lot of people praise it like some of the other films, but I think it's a really good one.
Secret World of Arrietty, huh? That was actually the first Ghibli film I ever saw, and the only one I saw in theaters. Personally, I really love it. It's a very gentle, serene film, with a lot of beautiful scenery and touching moments.
...Dang, you've seen a lot of Ghibli films...
Of the few that I've seen, I'd probably rank them like this: Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Secret World of Arrietty, Howl's Moving Castle, and Ponyo. (Yeah, only five...)
That being said, I do think that the movie is a bit awkward at times, bringing up plot points almost out of nowhere and being somewhat confusing at times. I wouldn't say it's one of Ghibli's best, but it is still a very good movie. Feel free to debate that, though.
Personally, I really liked the movie. I thought the visuals of the movie were very impressive (even compared to the other Ghibli films), the characters were pretty enjoyable, and it had a nice story.
Oh by the way, it might interest you that I recently watched Howl's Moving Castle, like you suggested. : )
Looks great, Halcyon! Very professional. I think the only thing I noticed was that there were some periods missing in the AC section of the Calm Mind set, but other than that, you made a solid analysis. Congratulations!

I have considered taking up an analysis once or twice, but I'm not quite sure about it. It's a lot of work, and I often have a lot of other things going on in my life that might complicate things. I'm not sure I'd be able to spare the time to make an analysis...
