Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
I don’t think it’s as extreme as it first looks. They did a somewhat similar thing with Gen 4 with Water/Steel, Fire/Fighting and Grass/Ground, which actually balances their weaknesses to each other and allows the traditional weaker matchup to actually be a threat in return (eg, Infernape can...
I actually love all 3 starters, but I do agree when I opened up my phone and saw them, I thought they were fake. Sprigatito I swear was a green palette swap of Rockruff. Maybe some Fennekin legs in there too. It took me a while to realize it was even a cat.
But please, for the love of Arceus...
I might just be extremely unlucky, but the trick of saving at the campsite before a Pokémon outbreak, and then resetting and heading back to the village and then reentering the same area to try and find a shiny pokemon….
Well you can no longer do that…. I’ve failed to find the same outbreak over...
Okay crazy prediction: They go Water/Grass, Fire/Water and Grass/Fire for the final starters
Duck pirate gets a wooden sword arm and a peg leg
Fire water amphibian Komodo dragon looking thing
Cat starter is a Fire Grass sabre tooth cat who eats chilli peppers and is called Jalapurrno
Is Gravsleep banned or not? On Showdown it won't let me use it and the rules on this thread list it under the clauses. But this thread says it was unbanned by the council and would be revisited if need be, which it so far hasn't been so far as I can tell. So....??
Just some quick feedback after skim reading it. Both Weezing and Shiinotic have poor offensive stats and should not be used as special attackers. They are defensive and supporter Pokémon respectively. Weezing is also not that reliable under trick room because many Pokémon are slower than it...
Your pastebin document is nice and all but I don’t know why you’re running Earthquake damage calcs for everything. The idea is to switch in to a choice locked stab attack. Your opponent is not going to predict switches 100% of the time and just click Earthquake every turn.
I respectfully bow...
I already addressed your counter argument because I knew you’d throw it at me. If people refuse to put the above mentioned Pokémon on their team to deal with G-Darm, either because they don’t like those Pokémon or because they are too stubborn to change their ways, and therefore they struggle...
I would like to argue that Galarian Darmanitan (and similarly Dracovish) are actually healthy for the metagame due to creating a huge and welcome variety in the metagame. You can argue they are centralizing, but I would like to point out that they are quite the opposite. And that’s because of...
I’m still concerned and confused about this luck-based argument regarding Moody. It really doesn’t make sense. It’s seems like people just don’t like playing against it.
What about a set like Sniper Drapion with Scope Lens and Night Slash/Cross Poison. You’re basically relying on a 50/50 coin...
Yes, yes I do.... right here in this thread.
My argument was based on the use of “luck” as a reason to ban Moody, and the use of “having to include counterplay in your team” as the other popular excuse. Neither are solid reasons when you apply them to other things. Okay sure, hyper offense may...
Good reply and counterpoints. A few comments:
I would also argue that Moody has competitive merit like your explanation for Focus Blast etc, and it’s basically the only way to make Glalie and Octillery competitive. So from that stand point, it has competitive merit if you want to use those...
