You do need a SAV file of your game to edit. And don't worry about asking questions, I'll always try to answer them.

It still works fine. There's an updated version for BW that everyone's been using for their teams.

Most people use PokéSAV. Otherwise, they'll get their teams by trading in the Wi-Fi forum.
