I don't think its that Gengar competes for Lati@s spots, although they have similar attacking patterns via strong STABs and offensive stats, they hold completely different roles. Gengar has Stallbreaking utility, although not as strong currently, while Lati@s are able to find a spot on teams...

Additionally, unless it is an AgiliGross, most M-Gross need the maximum speed investment to tie with other base 110 such as Gengar, M-Gallade, Lati@s and most importantly outspeed and beat Keldeo.
