Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
You know what would be freak'n sweet? A slake moth from Perdido street station. It pretty much fits the bill perfectly since it exist on multiple plains at once.
With that in mind, I really like the concepts from nov and tin since they have the whole moth with crazy wing patterns thing going...
After two play-through here are my thoughts on the guys I've used:
Tsutarja: I found good old smugleaf really useful early, but he had some problems keeping up later. Mid-High tier
Mijumaru: Wotter fared better than Smugleaf. He gets some really useful moves and has great all around stats...
Those real-life breeders are all paid large amounts of money for their skills. We get to be slightly better at a video game. IVs didn't make me want to be a breeder, they made me resent it. Hidden Power is really the only important part of IVs, but I'm sure GF could work around that.
I think...
As unlikely as it is, I'd like to see them just get rid of IVs. They really don't serve much of a purpose other than being a huge pain in the ass. It's be pretty easy when migrating pokemon as well. Keep their EVs and just baseline their IVs.
If Pig gets Fire/Ground it could go OU. I don't see much hope for Smugleaf though, although if all the dragons stay banned I guess it does have a chance. Especially if it gets growth and the movepool to run a good mixed set.
Here are my guesses for the stat spreads:
Smuglord: 70/82/72/118/81/107
Pig: 120/112/68/84/76/70
Wotterwhal: 95/106/74/77/103/75
GF tends to give the starters some odd spreads, so I didn't go for the standard 0's and 5's.
God that pig. I hate it. I hate it so much, and if it's fire/fighting I'm going to hate it even more. Smuglord is great and I have a feeling Wotterking will grow on me, even though it's a HUGE change from the first two in it's line. As for typing, I'm going with:
Sumglord: Grass
Pignite...
