Well after calcing it, it does seem that the crits didn't matter too much at least, quagsire would've died anyway. Empoleon would've had about 30% chance to live it if your blaziken was timid, if it was modest then It would've killed for sure anyway.

It probably didn't matter on quagsire at least, empoleon maybe, maybe not, it is somewhat specially defensive but focus blast is still super effective.
